Whatsoever things are good, think on these.
Experiencing the tug of God upon my heart relating to the Presidency of Asbury College, I was often
in my “prayer closet” seeking His will for the College and for my life. During one of those times, I
found myself crying out to God, and asking His divine purpose for our future. It became very evident
in my heart that He, indeed, is not finished with Asbury College. In fact, He is writing a new chapter in
an already rich history.
In this new chapter, Asbury College is committed to moving forward,
to allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into His future. We embrace
these days with confidence, assurance and hope, knowing that He
who has called us is faithful.
The value of a Christian liberal arts education, in the WesleyanHoliness tradition, has never been greater. The complexity of issues
in our world suggests the need for individuals who have a clear vision
of their calling, who have surrendered their hearts to Christ, and who
have excellent academic preparation.
We are in a growth mode at Asbury College!
Fall enrollment is the largest in our history, at 1,381. Our strategic plan
calls for increased growth, with a target of 2,000 students by 2015.
We have a compelling mission statement and believe it should be
expanded across a larger segment of our society. This is an ambitious
and worthy goal that can be accomplished as the campus community,
alumni, friends and constituents all work together.
This year has brought much positive change on campus. The MorrisonKenyon building has come to life again as a student center! The Student
Center includes an outside deck, which is bustling with students sipping
coffee with friends, sharing stories of the day’s activities and dreaming
about the future. Landscaping projects have provided a plaza and
gathering spaces for conversations and friendships to develop.

writing and music business. The ACHIEVE adult degree completion
program added an elementary education major. As of this fall, we are
also offering Chinese as a language option. In looking forward to 2008,
we anticipate an educational leadership program to prepare school
principals, a worship arts degree and a new master’s of social work
program.
Clearly, we are sensing God’s grace, mercy and favor upon this
institution. We are celebrating His goodness to us. May we embrace
all that He has for us and earnestly seek His face in every decision.
Our purpose is clear. While these are exciting days, we must be
steadfast in prayer, committed to His divine leading and generous in
our support.

commitment to academic excellence and spiritual vitality, for a lifetime of
learning, leadership and ser vice to the professions, society, the family and
the Church, thereby preparing them to engage their cultures and advance
the cause of Christ around the world.

As 1,300 of the brightest Christian students come to campus to further their education and
opportunities in this world, we celebrate God’s goodness to this College. We celebrate the newly
constructed landscapes and renovated student center. We celebrate the addition of four new majors
and an indoor riding arena.
We celebrate the largest total student body and the challenge to continue
to grow. We are thankful for the opportunities to expand our programs in
partnerships with Asbury Theological Seminary and ICHTHUS Ministries. We
are thankful for those who faithfully pray for Asbury College, our leadership,
our students and our faculty and staff.
We covet your prayers as we move forward and pursue God’s best for
this institution of higher education. We are thankful for those parents who
entrust their children to our care. We believe this is a sacred trust and take
this responsibility very seriously, praying for God’s wisdom as we continue the
foundation of faith that has been instilled in these students. We wonder at
God’s blessings.
We have the privilege of working with the brightest and most passionate
students who are pursuing God’s best for their lives. Our campus is growing
and we are excited to see where God will take us.
In recognition of the growth already experienced, the renovations completed
and the scholarships established, we are thankful for those who give regularly
– and for the first time – to Asbury College. You are responsible for sending
people to Indonesia to help re-build after the Tsunami. You have been
instrumental in saving lives in the ER in Florida. You have been part of God’s
plan as He directed the steps of teacher in Pennsylvania. When you help make
an Asbury College education possible, you become a part of God’s bigger
plan for the world as our students and alumni serve wherever they are called
to go.
So, yes, we celebrate God’s goodness and His blessings. We are thankful.
