1210 Annapolis Road Odenton, MD 21113 www.perrysrestaurant.com June 2008 Volume 1, Issue 4 If you were at Perry’s anytime during the month of May then you certainly didn’t miss out on the wave of activities. One word that pretty much sums it all up is…CELEBRATIONS! We celebrated three of the regular lady hand dancers birthdays and had intended to wrap up the month by recognizing Perry’s owner, Mr. Perry Miliotis, birthday as well. Due th to an unexpected illness, Mr. Perry’s May 29 birthday celebration had to be postponed. Thought I’d shed a little background info about the man we all call “Mr. Perry.” A native of Cyprus, Mr. Perry moved to the United States at the age of 18 and has owned and operated Perry’s Restaurant since October of 1971. A special THANK YOU to Mr. Perry from DJ Doo Wop Jack and the hand dancers for opening your doors to us every Thursday evening since 2007! International Guests ~ For those of us who haven’t seen Annemarie Thompson in quite some time, what a thrill it was to see her as well as meet members of her family. In addition to her daughter, Teri, Annemarie brought her brother, Joseph and his wife, Gabriele, who were visiting from Neckarsulm, Germany. As a former research analyst and German born myself, I was curious for some info about the town of Neckarsulm. My research efforts came up with an interesting fact about this German town. In May nd of 2005, Neckarsulm became Audi’s 2 largest production location. Joseph and Gabriele, don’t forget to include Perry’s on your list of stops the next time you’re in the good ol’ USA! The Three J’s ~ Sound like a new rock group? Not even…but oddly enough the three J’s happen to be the first initials of the May Birthday Ladies ~ Joanne Sinclair, Jeane Batchellor and Jeannette Pearce. June’s birthday line up of Perry’s regular hand dancers includes: Bill Jarvie, Julene Hussey, John & Trisch Tvelia, Bill Kolodin, Ron Nicholson and Vivian Claypool. Post Office Mug Shots ~ Not quite, but they are photos of some of Perry’s top ten staff. They include Michael, Rob and Mr. Perry himself. In case you were wondering, Mr. Perry isn’t camera shy but did insist on posing with several of the lady hand dance patrons when this editor insisted on taking his photo. Who Knew? ~ Susie Kees is a very sweet, happy go lucky type of gal, great hand dancer, and just all around fun person to be around. But who knew that Susie was both a history and math whiz? Susie not only came up with the right answer to April’s historical trivia question but she also ran around like a chicken and counted all the screens at Perry’s. Her keenness to detail and high enthusiasm paid off with the correct answer (8) to last month’s trivia question and won her a $15 complimentary dining tab credit at Perry’s! Okay, Susie, we’re going to wait another month to taunt our readers with another trivia question so you can give that brain of yours a rest! Beautiful Lady ~~ One can’t help but appreciate the beauty and symbolism linked with the Statue of Liberty in New York. For Jim and Jeannette Pearce, the lady and her city drew them back on Mother’s th, th th Day, May 11 to celebrate their 45 wedding anniversary. Their actual wedding date was May 11 and as it turns out, New York was the location of their original honeymoon haven. Jim, being the romantic devil that he still is, took HIS special and beautiful lady back for another memorable honeymoon. Congratulations to a th VERY special couple! I think we should all rent a bus and join them on their 50 ; ya think? Loose Lips ~ Remember that old saying “Loose Lips Sink Ships?” Richard Perkins once told me that I would NEVER get anything on him OR out of him for inclusion in my newsletter (past and present). WRONG! Did you know that Richard, an avid golfer, uses PINK tees? His story, and he’s holding to it, is that they’re easier to find. Whatever you say, Richard! You might also want to ask him about the art of filing teeth. Have something to share for an upcoming issue? Please drop me a line at dancewithmickey@aol.com & add the words “Perry’s Tidbits” in the subject line. Also, don’t forget that you can access past and present issues of the “In Step at Perry’s” newsletter online at www.perrysrestaurant.com. Quotable Quote: “We’re fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.” Mickie Moriarty Michael Susie, “Mr. Perry”, Mickie Rob
