Place: Lufbery Park OTC Disc Golf Music of the Times—Dennis Bonito Food Truck and Vendors Join us for this fun family event PTAC Presentation & Social discussion House Parties, Underage Drinking and the Law Date: October 28th Time: 6:30 PM Place: Wlfd Town Hall Champions For Youth Contest Modeled after the Partnership for Drug Free Kids and Major League Baseball Charities 2015 Play Healthy Awards, the Coalition is challenging youth organizations in Wlfd to nominate extraordinary mentors and youths who inspired others both on and off the field by helping someone in the community or someone overcoming the challenges of adversity. Place: Wallingford Senior Center Susan Saucier—Director of Southington Youth Services and Project Director of Town wide efforts to promote success –STEPS. Susan has over 35 years experience in youth counseling in Southington Schools and has overseen many positive youth development programs. David Melillo, M.S., L.P.C. Director of Madison Youth and Family Services since its inception (1983). Served on the Boards of several youthrelated organizations locally, regionally and statewide. Marlene F McGann, MSCJ Executive Director of the South Central CT Substance Abuse Council since 1994. Marlene served as a Juvenile Court Probation Officer and Executive Director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of SW CT. She is a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer and the statewide Coordinator of the Congregation Assistance Program and the CT Inhalant task Force Mr. Thomas Burr What to do when your kids make poor choices Date: October 27th Time: 6:30 P.M. Place: Wallingford Public Library Mr. Burr, Communications Manager at NAMI CT and has been a Member of the NAMI Public Policy staff since 2011. He served on both NAMI Connecticut and Manchester Affiliate Boards, including a stint as Board President of the Manchester Affiliate. As NAMI’s Communications Manager Mr. Burr helps those affected by mental health challenges find, support and education and advocacy programs. Sponsored by “Walk of Hope” Wallingford closes the 2015 Red Ribbon Week Campaign with a “Walk of Hope” Friday October 30th at 6:30 P.M. The walk begins at the Wallingford Parade Grounds (Town Hall lawn across from the Post Office) and continues up and down town Center Street, with luminary bags lighting the way. The closing ceremony will include participation from local business, schools and civic organizations. Luminary bags can be personalized and are available at Wallingford Youth and Social Services, and Wallingford Park and Rec up until the day of the event. Suggested Luminary Bag Donation $5.
