The Celebration of the Sacraments
Baptism
Baptisms are normally celebrated at 2:00PM on scheduled
Sundays in a month. Please call the Parish office to
arrange for a meeting with a Parish Priest and to register
for the baptismal class which is normally held on the 4th
Monday of each month at 7:30PM.
Marriage
Couples should make an appointment with a Priest at least
eight months prior to the wedding. A Marriage
Preparation Program is required.
Anointing of the Sick
Anyone seriously ill, elderly, or prior to an operation
should be anointed with the Sacrament of the Anointing
of the Sick. Please speak with one of the Priests to make
the arrangements.
Communion for the Homebound
Anyone who cannot attend Mass due to illness or age may
receive Communion at home. Please call the Rectory office
to make arrangements.
Reconciliation (Confession)
Every Saturday and Eve of Holy Days from 4:00PM to
4:45PM in the Church and on the Thursday before the
First Friday of every month after the 9:00AM Mass.
Individual confessions may be arranged by calling the
Rectory office.
Interested in becoming a Catholic or completing
your Sacraments?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the
process by which adults are brought into the Catholic
Church. If you have never been baptized, confirmed or
received first Holy Communion or if you are a member of
another Christian Church and wish to become a member
of the Catholic Church, contact Judy Corbellini at (631)

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.” Who wouldn’t appreciate
some real rest? Most of us fall into the category of those
“who labor.” We have our jobs to do, our families to
tend to, our responsibilities to take care of. Often, the
tasks seem endless and our time seems so limited. How
can we justify “rest” with so many things on our to-do
lists? Even recreation can be labor intensive when it
involves planning, preparing, traveling, or hosting. And
our default modes of “resting”—whether it be watching
television, taking a nap, or chatting with a friend—rarely
refresh us for more than a few hours. But the rest Jesus
is describing is different than this. He isn’t talking about
an occasional “time-out” from the duties of life. Jesus is
offering us a deeper kind of relief, a liberation from the
exhaustion of life.
This freedom comes when we take his yoke on our
shoulders. Jesus tells us, in essence, to align ourselves
with him—to do our work with him. All of our duties
and responsibilities can be done with Jesus at our side.
He does not promise that our obligations will magically
disappear. The “rest” he offers is a kind of peace even
amidst our daily lives. The refreshment Jesus brings is
the comfort of his presence as we engage in the everyday
tasks that we are called to do. It is not that there are no
longer burdens to bear; rather, the burden is “light” when
we share it with the Lord. But just how do we share the
load? Perhaps by starting the morning in prayer asking
Jesus to assist us, or by seeking his guidance in daily
decisions, or by offering our actions to him. However we
do it, when we come to him as he asked, he promises,
“you will find rest.”

From the Pastor’s Pen
I am more and more impressed by our parish. Arriving as I did at the start of the Feast, I had the opportunity to see so many
of our parishioners in action. Led by the Father Judge Council, the volunteers who helped out were filled with a great spirit. For me,
a project like that has two goals. Of course the obvious goal is to raise money. But the second is just as important: to bring people
together to do something for their church. If that happens the project is successful even if little money is raised.
At this point in the history of our parish, we have the opportunity to shape the future. I would like to foster the same spirit
that fills our volunteers into creating a parish plan.
To do this in an effective way, I ask you to nominate people from across the parish to serve on a Pastoral Transition Team.
They should be people who are willing to attend the training workshop and the working meetings and meetings with parishioners
that will follow. I would like to have the team formed over the summer. Once the team is formed, they will be trained in gathering
information from the parish to create a vision for the future. This vision would then serve as an agenda for myself and the parish
council and finance committee. The plan is for them to begin their info gathering in September, and report on their findings around
November 1st. Please note: this week I have added a nomination for an Hispanic parishioner.

Each summer we try to provide a review of our liturgy.
This summer we will concentrate on the Mass.
Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist

Our Eucharistic celebration or Mass is made up of two main parts, the Liturgy of the
Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Preceded by introductory rites, the Liturgy of the Word consists of the proclamation of
the word of God, the profession of faith, and the prayer of the faithful.
The various sections of the Liturgy of the Eucharist are the preparation of gifts, the Eucharistic prayer, and the communion rite, all followed by a brief concluding rite.
In both parts together we experience God and participate in a single integrated act of
worship. It is through hearing the word of God that we believe in sharing the bread of life
and through sharing the bread of life that we are empowered to live the word of God.

A catechist is faith, hope and love attached to arms and legs, aches and pains,
family duties and not enough time.
A catechist is an ordinary person who is extraordinary because he or she
teaches as Jesus did.
A catechist is faithful to the past, open to the future but especially dedicated
to deepening the faith of the present generation.

blood drive on Wednesday, July
16th at their council hall in Hewitt Square, East Northport. Our
blood drive will run from
3:30pm – 8:30pm.
Poor Box Collection for June 29th 2014: $659.00
The Knights of Columbus will be taking appointments for their blood drive
the weekend of July 5-6 after all Masses. To sign-up,
fill out an appointment slip and leave it in the box as
you leave church. You will receive a confirmation of
your appointment in the mail.
“Feed My Lambs” is the weekly request of the SVDP Society
to parishioners to bring to church the one or two items that
the Food Pantry is in low supply of.
This week’s food item(s) are:
Tunafish, Pasta sauce, Pork&Beans,
Canned Fruit, Crackers, Toothpaste
Of course any other items you wish to donate will be
gratefully accepted, but the item that we are concentrating on will help us ensure that this item will be in supply
for our clients. All items can be left in the rear of the
Church before and after all the weekend Masses. During
the week items can be brought to Parish Outreach, Monday -Friday between the hours of 10:00AM and
2:00PM. Thank you for helping us minister to the lambs
of our community who are in need.
Each summer blood reserves drop to dangerously low levels. This year is no different. Perhaps you
have seen the emergency appeals for blood on television or heard the announcement on the radio. Please
consider bringing a family member or a friend with you
to the blood drive.
