Pastor’s Lines
Dear Church Family,
I am excited about some things this summer!! I
am excited about our youth group "trippin" to New Orleans. We had about a dozen teams working in the big scary
city and they were excellent. I had the opportunity to be
with them for part of the trip and they were such servants. Shower Friday was a blessing as the teens served
the homeless community through the ministry of Vieux
Carre' Baptist Church. The teens were also blessed to be
taught by Reagan Farris. And we are certainly wanting to
have him and Beth Hazel Farris return to our church soon.
I hear that the youth are planning another surprise event
this summer and I hope it comes to pass. Way To Go, Derrick, Eric, and team!!
I am excited about VBS. We are going to be full to
overflowing with children learning about Jesus. Thank you
so much for giving a "just what we needed" offering on
Sunday ($1496) to meet all the needs of VBS. I am excited
that we have a missions offering emphasis that will support our children in India through the Servnlove Children's
Home. We have a friendly competition that we have instituted to help support the mission. Here it is...Nathan, Brian and Br. jeff are competing to see who raises the most
money for missions this next week. The staff member
who raises the most money, has to kiss a pig (red lipstick
and all) So, let's all pull for Brian or Nathan to win the
contest. Get those pennies, nickels, and (this year) we are
receiving folding money as well. So the winner is the one
who raises the most money (not the most weight). Who is
gonna win?
I am excited about the creative worship services
we have been a part of. It is fun to come to the church
with a little expectancy. Thanks Nathan and team for
making the summer so much fun. BTW, we are also excited to see the attendance in worship staying strong
through the summer. I know you are enjoying vacation
and it is good to get away, but it is also good to return. I
will be taking my family to Phoenix at the end of June. Ray
Wells will be preaching while I am away. I look forward to
being away and look forward to returning.
I am excited about our church giving through the
first 5 months of the year. We have given more offering
than our church needs for 6 straight months. We are now
giving more than the budget, and we are continuing to
manage our funds in a conservative, responsible way. We
are also continuing to give strongly to the cooperative program and to our missions offerings. God has blessed the
offering plate!!! Thank you so much.
