It is very important to be on time, as conferences are scheduled back to back. When it is your scheduled time, please knock on the door to alert the teacher of your arrival. Here are some tips for a productive conference in a limited amount of time: Before the conference think about specific questions you might have for your child’s teacher. Talk to your student about any questions or concerns he or she might have. Enjoy hearing the positive aspects of your child, and be open to hear opportunities for growth. With the areas of growth, ask how you can support your child at home. Would you like free nutritional and family recipes? Here is one recipe and website: http://www.goodlifeeats.com/2012/11/fall-mexican-rice-bowls.html If you would like more information on this site, contact Connie Gutterson. If you call the office we can get a message to her. Also St. Apollinaris Catholic Church is organizing a relief effort for the victims of “Sandy”. You can call the Church 707-257-2555 or Catholic Relief Services, 1-877-435-7277 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Time to assist in any relief efforts. Students from schools in Sonoma, Solano, and Napa Counties performed speeches in four categories. Our participating eighth graders were Olivia Perata, Joey Devine, Maeve Peace, Garrett Long, Kaitlyn Gardner, Tarantino Pachote, Isabella Hernandez, Isabelle Lemieux, John Eberling, Jori Herman, Kellan Clark, Spencer Wheat, Julia Prager and Paul O’Neill. All of the student speakers did excellent jobs and were terrific representatives for our school. Isabelle Lemieux took 2nd place and Isabella Hernandez took 3rd place in the dramatic interpretation category. Garrett Long took 3rd place in the impromptu category. St. A’s As stated before, all students did outstanding jobs and made me so very proud to be their teacher. I want to say thank you to Sister Philomena for helping these students polish their speeches, and a big thank you to all the parents that came out to support their children last night. I look forward to seeing many of this year’s 7th graders perform next year at the speech contest. Thank you! Ms. Jackson St. A’s alumni ~ 8th gr. Our upper-class teams continued to play great basketball this past weekend! 7th grade girls are our Spotlight Team – as they are on a roll with 4 victories and no losses! They played an outstanding game on Saturday against Saint Eugene, dominating the entire game, and ending with a victorious score of 45-15. The key to this team is athletic effort and good fundamentals being applied by every player. They truly do win as a team. 8th grade boys played Blue Oak on Saturday, and once again, kept the score close throughout the game. Only 4 points separated the 2 teams in the end. Our boys brought out a new defensive press and scored multiple points from it. Jacob Wright had a great defensive game, and the team as a whole grows more determined every time they hit the court. Our 8th grade girls looked strong again, even when they had to come from behind. They played Saint Eugene, and never gave up as they played solid basketball in the last quarter. They lost by only a few points, and look forward to getting back on a winning streak this weekend. 7th grade boys had a tough loss this past weekend to Blue Oak. They got behind in the first quarter, and so had to rally back as a team. They did great job staying in the game, and played better as the game went along. They will be ready to play again this weekend. Home games this weekend are: 7th grade girls: 9:00am 11:30am 7th grade boys: 10:15am CANNED FOOD DRIVE FOR THE NAPA VALLEY FOOD BANK Please bring NON-PERISHABLE items to your classroom between Nov. 14th and Nov. 30th.
