WELCOME CELEBRATION OF THE
TO THE PREMIERE
APRÈS SKI COCKTAIL EXPERIENCE
A celebration of the union between Après-Ski and the
Craft of the Cocktail March 13–16, 2014 in Aspen/
Snowmass, Colorado. This slopeside extravaganza will
feature the best of the best in après-ski culture with
everything from hot toddies to mountain-top parties,
seminars, fireside chats, cocktail-paired dinner series, a
Grand Tasting Village and the Great Après-Ski Pub Crawl!
The Classic will bring together brand ambassadors,
bartenders, mixologists, chefs, spirit aficionados and
professional tipplers for a four-day sip in the snow.
So, grab your ski hat, blanket and raise a hot toddy (or
snifter of something) and join us for the premiere of the
Après-Ski Cocktail Classic.
DRINK WELL. LAUGH OFTEN. SKI MUCH.
APRÈS-SKI
FROM WIKIPEDIA, THE FREE ENCYCLOPEDIA
Après-ski (French: after skiing) refers to going out, having drinks, dancing, and
generally socializing after skiing.[1][2] It is popular in the Alps, where skiers
often stop at bars on their last run of the day while still wearing all their ski gear.
[3] The concept is similar to the nineteenth hole in golf. This can also happen
anywhere in the world where there is snow. In the United States, the term is
used more broadly to describe the atmosphere of ski resorts and ski culture, ski
themed architecture and decor, and the ski oriented lifestyle in general. (*an ASCC
add: we, of course, must include fantastic high-mark libations of every sort).

A RATHER CORDIAL CONVERSATION: THE SCIENCE AND
HISTORY OF LIQUEURS
3:30pm–4:30pm
Presented by Drambuie
Join Drambuie Ambassador Anthony Caporale for a journey through
time and across the globe to explore the origins of flavored spirits!
Anthony will guide you through the science and history behind such
classic liqueurs as St. Germain elderflower spirit, Disaronno amaretto,
Chartreuse, Benedictine, and of course Drambuie Scotch liqueur!
We’ll look at why we began flavoring spirits, when it all started, and exactly how alchemy,
religion, and medicine joined forces over the centuries to transform ordinary ethyl alcohol
into extraordinary elixirs. Finally, you’ll get to try your hand as a Master Blender and
create and taste your very own signature Scotch liqueur!
ICE

Come learn about ice. See a demonstration by Jimmy Yeager of how
BFIC’s for cocktails are broken down from a 300 lb block of ice. Also,
Jimmy will have a discussion that dives into the scientific properties
of ice, how to make crystal clear ice at home or for your bar, and
conduct interactive experiments to show why ice is such an
important ingredient in the recipe for great cocktails.

wonderful, yet underestimated, or even misunderstood, world
of Amari. Recently returning to popularity, these unique and
traditional elixirs actually date back many years, with roots in

learn about some cool drinking rituals, explore their versatility in
cocktails, and learn about their remarkable appeal for Après too.

you are gin lover or gin hater (come and be converted!), this
seminar will showcase four distinct brands and serve them up in
signature cocktails. Led by Steve Olson with Charlotte Voisey,
Brooke Arthur and Natalie Bovis.

Interest and enthusiasm for creating a more sophisticated cocktail is contagious
