Chef Susur Lee

EXECUTIVE CHEF
Good food makes us happy. One of our favourite
things is to squeeze around the table with family and friends
and enjoy a great dinner. We designed this restaurant so that
people who love good food could get together in a cozy space,
share delicious dishes and celebrate the pleasure of friendship.
We invite you to taste the sea in briny delicacies from our raw
bar. Dig into savoury appetizers or share nourishing plates from
our kitchen. Pair your dish with one of our rare sakes from our
cellar or a selected wine. Invigorate your palate with a

The Space
Warm, inviting, airy.
Designed to ignite
conversation over a
great meal. At the corner of Markham and the continually gentrifying Dundas
West corridor, the hungry traveler will glimpse BENT’s cherry-red
blinking neon arrow, the familiar and reassuring signpost of a ‘50s
diner, signalling that here, yes, is a welcoming urban oasis.
The cosy gastro-boite, clad in white French subway tiles, charms
immediately with the inspired touch of designers Brenda Bent and
Karen Gable. The base of the hostess station is a giant terrarium
that houses plastic figurines; high-backed wooden church benches
line polished communal tables. Whimsical décor in every direction
invites the diner’s eye to wander. Above the raw bar are vintage
Japanese “Pachinko” arcade games; wall-mounted Letter Press boxes
display collectible trinkets, tchotchkes and CrackerJack prizes
amassed by Bent over several decades. Think Dr. Caligari’s Kabinett

The Chef
Praised as one of the “Ten Chefs of the
Millennium” by Food & Wine
magazine, Susur Lee is still at the top of
his game.
Between helming five restaurants in
Toronto—Lee, Bent, Luckee, Lee Kitchen
& Fring’s —and overseeing his
prestigious TungLok Heen in Singapore,
Chef Lee makes numerous television
appearances (Iron Chef America,
Chopped Canada, Top Chef Masters,
MasterChefAsia) and travels the globe
as guest chef and consultant.
Balancing the epicurean traditions of
China with the classical techniques of
French cuisines, Chef Lee improvises a
