Metropolitan Council MCES Environmental Services Wayzata Area Improvements A Clean Water Agency Exhibit A Exhibit B June 9, 2011 Wayzata City Council Met Council Wayzata, MN Dear Members, The purpose of this communication is to ask for your cooperation and consideration in postponing the proposed water main construction project along Lake Street set to commence early 2012. The past two years of extreme economic turmoil has resulted in many members of the Wayzata retail community searching for new ways to remain solvent. We are slowly climbing out of a difficult time and many of us are starting to find a small modicum of financial balance. We have a long way to go before we can say that we are healthy again. Starting this project is going to have a profound impact on the businesses along Lake Street and our goal is that no one should have to cease operations. Please know that we understand the need for this project to be completed due to age and deterioration of the water main and that each year of delay could increase the construction costs. You have shown great consideration in investigating a time of year that would be least intrusive for the residents and retailers, thank you. The time frame that works best is beginning the project after January 1 and completing by May 1. That being said, we ask that the deciding governmental agencies understand our plight and agree with our request to delay the project for a period of two years. Your time and allowing us to present our views is greatly appreciated.
