The C1 Implants are conical, self-tapping implants with three parallel micro rings at the coronal area. The surface treatment is a combination of sandblasting and acid etching. Its conical connection features platform switching as well as an internal anti-rotation mechanism. The implants are color-coded based on their restorative platform. We selected five patients who needed one to four implants as part of their restorative treatment plan. In four cases implants were placed in the mandible. In these cases, the bone was classified as type I and type II bone. The fifth case required placement of an implant at anterior maxilla. Bone type was classified as type III. Altogether, our surgeons: Dr. Calvache and Dr. Ferrigno used twelve implants. Eight were 3.75 diameter implants; four 10mm long and four 11.5mm long, and four were 4.2 diameter impalnts; one 10 mm long and three 11.5mm long. None of the implants were immediately loaded. The following parameters were evaluated during the surgical phase: drilling sequence, delivery to site, insertion, stability, cover screw or healing cap handling and an overall evaluation. Conclusions Based on this preliminary evaluation of twelve C1 implants, our surgeons concluded the following: ▪ The surgical kit's arrangement is logical, ergonomic, and non-complex. Following the correct sequence was easy. ▪ The double packing system ensures sterilization and safety of the implants. ▪ The conical root-shaped body of the implants , their thread design and the self-tapping property, as well as their ability to mildly compress bone, enhance implants' primary stability. ▪ The micro rings on implant’s neck and the dual thread design improve bone to implant contact at the cervical zone. ▪ The conical connection offers better seal and minimizes micro-movements, ensuring preservation of bone. ▪ The color coding of the platforms, visible both within the internal connection and on the various components really is a great advantage. ▪ The full range of pilot drills, each with a builtin stopper, helps to determine the correct length, enhance safety and overall facilitates the surgical procedure. ▪ The final drills, which are packed with each implant, easily cuts through bone. ▪ The direction indicator tools facilitates the identification of the three dimensional position of the implants and its connection. ▪ The insertion system is very convenient and minimizes the overall number of tools. This initial evaluation presents positive results. However, it is necessary to develop research studies that will be able to present supportive conclusions, based upon scientific evidencebased data.
