WOMEN
gender differentiation at home,
work place and the community at
large, was the focus in a workshop
organized by the Bhavan on June
30.
The one-day programme
involving the women employees
of the Bangalore Electricity
Company (BESCOM). was
initiated by Dr Rajeswari Raghu,
Director, Education Initiative of
the Bhavan. She outlined the
approach of the training which
proposed to cover the understanding
of gender, history of gender bias etc.
The women officers, mostly
engineers who took part in the
training evinced keen interest in
the inter-action, which inter alia,
delved into how women had been
socialised to accept gender
specific roles legally and socially
in the Indian context. A sidelight
of the inter-action was the
experience some officers shared
with their colleagues.
While Sri Ram Bhat
served as the resource person
for the training, he received
commendable assistance by
Dr. Rajeshwari, Ms. Annie
Dhanraj, lending her a helping
hand.
Sri Satyaprema
Kumar, G.M. HRD, and
Sri Ananthashayanam, Iyengar
appreciate the efforts of the
Bhavan in sponsoring such a
useful programme.
Before conclusion, each
participant was presented with
certificates of attendance in the
