MEDICAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME FOR RETIRED EMPLOYEES
1. Cochin Shipyard had introduced a post-superannuation Medical
Assistance Scheme namely Medical Assistance Scheme for Retired
Employees {MASRE) to extend Medical Assistance Insurance Coverage for
the retired employees and their eligible dependants, and the said scheme
was notified vide circular No.P&A/ 18(175)/2o09 dated 26 Apr 2011.
2. The Ministry of Shipping vide letter No.sY-rro1712l20o9-csl(part)
dated 05 Dec 2Ol4 has accorded approval for the amendments to the
said Medical Assistance Scheme for Retired Employees. Accordingly the
Scheme stands modified to the extent as stated hereunder:
(a)
The employees (workmen, supervisors and officers) who retired prior
to 01.OL.2OO7 on Superannuation or Voluntary Retirement Scheme
(vRS) or voluntary Premature Retirement Scheme (VPRS) after ls
years of service in CSL are eligible to be covered under MASRE
Scheme.
(b)
With effect from OLO4.2O14 such eligible retired employees under
MASRE are required to pay to CSL annual renewal fee at the rate of
an amount equal to 10% of the individual annual premium for the
medical insurance policy arranged by CSL in this regard subject to a
minimum of

l- every year.
As a very special case, those employees who resigned from CSL
service after 15 years of service in CSL prior to 01.OL2OO7 will be
permitted to join the Master Medi'cal Insurance Policy arranged by
CSL, w.e.f 01 Apr 2015 on payment of ful1 individual annual premium
as applicable during the relevant period.
(d)
It has been decided to refund to those retired
employees who have
paid 50% or 100% of the annual individual premium for the medical
insurance policy applicable during the year 2Ol4-15, after adjusting
the amount prescribed at (b) above.
(e)
Those eligible ex-employees of csl, who separated from csl, on
VRS/VPRS/Resignation are eligible for availing benefits under the
Scheme after crossing 60 years of age.
(f) Those eligible retired employees as mentioned above and who have
not yet enrolled themselves for the scheme would be given the last
chance to join the scheme on payment of the prescribed amount
under the scheme w.e.f 01 Apr 2o1s. such retired employees, who
desire to join the scheme are requested to contact Cochin Shipyard
Ltd. during March / ApnI2OlS.
3. This issues with the approval of cornpetent Authority.
