SAINT-GOBAIN SULLY WINDSHIELD SOLUTIONS FOR OPTIMISED WEIGHT AND IMPACT RESISTANCE Customer Needs Depending on the type of the train, environment where the train operates and the country’s regulations, there are different typologies of impact, pressure and fire constraints. © Saint-Gobain Sully S aint-Gobain Sully’s Solution Based on our 40 years of experience in several countries, Saint-Gobain Sully has developed solutions for several types of impact constraints regulated by different standards. The company tests hundreds of compositions each year in its integrated testing facilities and participates in the development of standards for railway glazing for the EN and UIC. Saint-Gobain Sully solutions for impact resistance include: - fire and smoke qualifications according to several standards; - pressure cycles resistance; - climatic tests resistance; - thermal insulation; - acoustic performance. 1. Optimised glass composition Impact-resistant glazing is composed of an interlayer (PU and PUB), glasses with varying thickness and an anti-spall layer. With its expertise, Saint-Gobain Sully defines the best position of a ply for a relevant impact and for fire/smoke resistance. 2. Chemical reinforcement In addition to tempered glass, we offer the technologically advanced solution of chemical reinforcement. Chemically reinforced glass is highly impact resistant, more flexible and has a safer crack pattern. © Saint-Gobain Sully 3. Anti-spall protection A special film is applied on the internal side of the glass in order to avoid the projection of spalls into the cabin and protect the driver from projectiles.
