SAINT-GOBAIN SULLY SOLUTIONS FOR VISIBILITY IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER Customer needs Different weather conditions create different obstacles to the visibility of a navy crew. Transparencies should quickly obtain and maintain the same level of light transmittance in heavy weather conditions. © Marine Nationale Saint-Gobain Sully’s Solution Saint-Gobain Sully addresses this need by offering technology for de-misting and de-icing. 1. Heating Systems 1. Airplex® 2. Indiex® Bus bar Glass Mico-wires Printing Glass Bus bar PVB PVB Coating Airplex® - one of the oldest types of technology developed by Saint-Gobain Sully. Wires of 20 microns are embedded in the interlayer. Once laminated in the glazing, the wire networks are almost invisible to the human eye. De-icing simulation Temperature (°C) Indiex® - Transparent Conductive Oxyde coating on the glass. It was initially developed for use in the aerospace industry and now it is also offered to the navy. The coating is entirely invisible in transmission. This heating system enables a very high power density to be obtained (up to 70 W/dm²). Ext T° -35°C Int T° +10°C Specific power 36W/dm2 De-icing is performed within 15 minutes Time in seconds TSE – External Surface Temperature TSI – Internal Surface Temperature SAINT-GOBAIN SULLY SOLUTIONS FOR VISIBILITY IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER 2. Heating Regulation Heating is regulated by a controller or thermostat glued on the inner face of the glass. Three types of sensors are offered for heating controllers: - Platinum; - NTC; - Nickel. A thermostat is separate and, if necessary, can be connected to a power relay. It cuts the power off at a specific temperature. © Marine Nationale. Photo: Laetitia Ra Advantages • Excellent level of light transmittance. • Power saving feature. • No need for special maintenance. • Quick de-icing. • The system is reliable in extreme conditions. • The state of performance of the heating system is constantly communicated by a diagnostic box. Application Airplex® and Indiex® meet the requirements of the military standard MIL-W-18445. Both types of technology provide maximum visibility and comfort for all types of weather. • Heating controller adapted to all types of design. • System approved by international certification organisations. • Easy and quick installation. • Possibility to develop very complicated specifications. • Saint-Gobain Sully has been providing heating systems for the last 50 years for surface warships, as well as for uses within the aerospace, railway and armored vehicles industries.
