Assistant 763.783.3553 Country Inn & Suites, 155 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids M ost of us recognize that we’re SUPPOSED TO network -- we hear it from so many experts, but so few of them tell us what we’re really supposed to be doing. So we don’t do it. Or if we do, we show up and burn time because we just don’t know what to do and we don’t know what to say. And that can create a lot of anxiety that can really get in the way of any kind of productive conversation. STAGE PRESENCE FOR NETWORKERS identifies everything that gets in our way around networking, and then quickly and efficiently takes care of those barriers, replacing anxiety with ease, uncertainty with clarity, and resignation with excitement. Take-aways: • A game-changing new understanding of what the challenge of networking is about • A whole new level of comfort and ability around networking • An ability to lead productive networking conversations with anyone, anywhere you go $18 members/$21 not-yet members. Includes lunch by Cityside Bar & Grill. RSVP required; 763.783.3553 or teresa@metronorthchamber.org Summer Food Fest Thursday, June 21, 4:30-7:30 pm Aquatore Park Next to Fogerty Arena, Hwy 65 & 93rd Ave, Blaine Our 2nd annual Summer Food Fest is fast approaching! Legislators and lobbyists have gone home. But how the outcomes of the bills passed will affect our business community still remain to be seen. What will the Vikings Stadium really look like, and how will it affect you? What will the ‘tax relief’ provisions actually do for area businesses? What was in the bonding bill that we need to know? Rest assured, the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce will continue to look at these important questions and get the information to our members. MetroNorth will also continue to lend its support to the issues that didn’t pass this year that are still important to our members – for instance, ‘e-fairness,’ which would require online only retailers to collect sales tax, just like our brick & mortar businesses do each and every dayMetroNorth will continue to be in contact with our elected officials throughout the entire year and talk about pro-business issues every chance we have. On that note – the MetroNorth Chamber Leadership Fund (PAC) is getting into high gear for this election season. This group is a separate entity from the Chamber but comprised of MetroNorth members like you. Their mission is to ensure that probusiness candidates are elected to office this fall. They will look to endorse in various races and lend their support to their campaigns. If you want to have a say in this, we urge you to join the PAC and contribute to the process. More information can be found on the PAC in our professional directory on the back page of this newsletter. Special Recognition of MetroNorth Board Member In early May, Grand Casino Hinckley celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a major event at their facility. It was all 'all-star event' with a variety of state and federal elected officials, tribal leaders, and community representatives. The grande finale was an unveiling of a 4-piece mural, one panel of which highlighted their "Commitment to Giving." The accompanying photo was of none other than Bob Schlichte, a current MetroNorth Board member and supporter extraordinaire! The mural was a great tribute to Bob who has worked very hard for over 20 years developing relationships with the community on behalf of the Grand Casino organization. Thanks, Bob, for the opportunity to be a part of that special event and for all you do for MetroNorth!
