Tillie Rhoda Franz was born in Hillcrest, Alberta to parents Henry and Emma Franz. Along with her eight siblings, Tillie was raised with an appreciation for family, community and an earnest work ethic. As a gentle and graceful young lady, Tillie won the affections of a fine young man, Michael Korman, and on March 21, 1942 they wed and soon were blessed with a family of their own. Tillie had many talents and interests but her fondest was knitting, crafts, traveling, solving puzzles and most of all cooking and caring for her family. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Each moment spent with them filled her heart with joy and she loved them all unconditionally. Her life was filled with laughter and love, challenges and successes, and friendship and fun. She was truly an inspiration to her family and shall be dearly missed but never forgotten. She is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Allan) Rae of Calgary, AB and Marilyn (George) Hurtak of Coleman, AB; her grandchildren, Shelley Moerike, Derek (Norma Jean) Rae, Darcy (Mike) Makin and Corrie (Dwayne) Shannon; her great grandchildren, Ashley, Jaeden, Vanessa, Kaitlin and Abbigayle; her sister, Blossom (Mert) Stanfield; her sister-in-law, Marie Franz; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Korman; her parents, Henry & Emma Franz; her brothers, Henry, Robert and Lorne; and her sisters, Rose Daw, Emma Gibson, Lily Carney and Elsie Failler. With respect for Tillie’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed towards the CNP Health Fdn, “Palliative Care Program”, Bag 1, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca. The family wish to acknowledge the staff at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre for their kindness and consideration especially Dr. J. Maritz who cared for Tillie with such compassion over the years. Fantin's Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements. (403) 562-8555. Obituary Mary Lucrezia Atkinson (1924-2015) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Nonny, Mary Lucezia Atkinson on March 11, 2015 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre. She was 90 years of age. Mary was born in Coleman, AB to proud parents Angelo and Enis Toppano on July 6, 1924. She grew into a kind, loving young lady who drew the attention of a handsome gentleman, William Graham Atkinson. The happy couple married in May 1947 and was later blessed with four wonderful children. Mary had many hobbies and interests that kept her busy including sewing, tatting and cross-stitching. She also loved solving crossword puzzles and was an enthusiastic card player. Mary had the opportunity to travel the world throughout her life and saw such places as the USA, England and Italy. She also found the time to be actively involved in many clubs and organizations including the Royal Purple, Italian Women’s Society, Crowsnest Museum and, reluctantly, the Coleman Badminton Club. Mary believed in doing your best whatever the endeavor! Above all else, Mary cherished her family and the time spent with them. She spent countless contented hours cooking for them and taught them to always stand together and love each other unconditionally. Mary was a thoughtful, generous person who touched hearts of all who knew her. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children, Robert (Darlene) Atkinson of Airdrie, AB, Marianne (Jim) Wallwork of Port Moody, BC, Deborah (Curtis) Bellerose of Coleman, AB & Graham (Robin) Atkinson of Sparwood, BC; her grandchildren, Paul (Christine) Atkinson, Jonathan (Brandee) Atkinson, Stacy (Dave) Wallwork, Jeff (Jenne) Wallwork, Marc (Sarah) Bellerose & Lindsey (Chad) Engel & Jared (Angela) Atkinson; her great grandchildren, Nash, Khala, Reid, Tristan, Willow, Dawson, Grayson, Nolan, Asha, Esme & Katelyn; her sister, Norma Perozak of Lethbridge, AB; cousins, Russell (Joyce) Montalbetti of Blairmore, AB & Joanne Hauck of Calgry, AB; as well as numerous nephews, extended family and the many friends she made throughout her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Graham; her parents, Angelo & Enis Toppano; her granddaughter, Jennifer Bellerose; and her brother, Donald Toppano. In honouring Mary’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted by the York Creek Lodge Residents’ Association (P.O. Box 1050, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca. Fantin's Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements. (403) 562-8555.
