Leo J. Gosciewski, 85, of
Union Dale, passed away
peacefully early Sunday morning, January 31, 2016 at the Forest City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Forest City. His
wife, the former Marie Svecz,
preceded him in death.
Born in Carbondale, son of
the late Leo E. and Kathryn
Gorel Gosciewski, he was a
member of Ascension Parish,
Forest City. He was a graduate of Pleasant Mount High
School. He was a self employed dairy farmer for his
entire life until his retirement
in 2001. He was a member of
the Dairymen’s League and
Parmalott. He enjoyed hunting and had a great love for all
animals.
Surviving are 2 brothers: Joseph Gosciewski, Union Dale;
John Gosciewski, Detroit, MI;
2 sisters: Margaret Prezelski,
Union Dale; Joan Smith, Honesdale; and several nieces and
nephews.
The funeral was Thursday,
February 4 from the Jones &
Brennan Funeral Home, 430
Main Street, with Mass of
Christian Burial in Saint Joseph’s Church, Delaware St.,
Forest City. Interment, Saint
James Cemetery, Pleasant
Mount.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations
be made to True Friends Animal Welfare Center, 16332 SR
706, Montrose, PA 18801 or the
North Shore Animal League,
(the world’s largest no-kill and
rescue adoption organization),
at 25 Davis Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050.

Robert L. Olver, 84, of Beech
Grove passed away peacefully
at home surrounded by his
family on Sunday afternoon,
January 31, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 61
years, the former Arlene Robinson.
Born June 2, 1931 at home
on the family farm in Beech
Grove, he was the son of the
late Leslie and Mignon Harvey Olver.
Bob served in the United
States Army from 1954-1956.
He was a lifetime member and
past president of the Honesdale Golf Club. Bob was a
member and past president of
the Wayne County Holstein
Club, and served as a director of the Wayne County Fair
Board for over 40 years. He
played Mountain League Baseball through the late 1950’s and
early 1960’s; he was an avid
golfer, harness racing owner,
and all around sports enthusiast. Bob owned and operated Olcrest Farm from 1957
to 1992, where he and Arlene
raised their family. Following his retirement from dairy
farming, Bob was a golf ranger
at Woodloch Springs. Bob was
very proud of his family and
loved being with his children
and grandchildren.
He is also survived by five
children: Dale Olver of State
College, PA, Tammy Altemier
and her husband Chris of
Honesdale, Lori Olver-Carney
and her husband Dan of Clinton Township, Dean Olver of
Honesdale, Julie Moran and
her husband Dan of Carbondale; seven grandchildren:
Greg Penwarden, Jessica Zablocky, Ryan Altemier, Ashley
Olver, Dean J. Olver, Carmen
Rutledge, and Drew Rutledge;
four
great-grandchildren:
Aleka Penwarden, Mason Altemier, Truly Zablocky, Thomas Olver; one brother: Roger
Olver and his wife Carole of
Beech Grove; a brother-in-law
James Podunajec of Prompton;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in
death by his sister, Janet Podunajec; and an infant greatgrandson, Brayden Altemier.
In accordance with his
wishes, funeral services and
burial were private and held at
the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Clinton
Center Cemetery in the spring.

Eleanor H. Rentner, 84,
formerly of Browndale, died
Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at
the Forest City Nursing Home.
Born June 23, 1931, in Trenton, N.J., she was the daughter
of the late William and Theresa Maybee Christensen. She
was a retired LPN, having
worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale and also did
private duty nursing.
Surviving are three sons,
Craig Rentner, Beacon, N.Y.;
Jeff Rentner, Falls; and Robert Rentner and wife, Debbie,
Browndale; one grandson, Justin; and one great-grandson,
Ethan.
She was also preceded in
death by one sister, Helen Kiss.
As per Eleanor’s request,
she was cremated with private
services held by her family.

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the 40 day Lenten
season, which ends on Holy
Saturday. This is a season of
preparation for Celebrating
Easter.

the Thompson United Methodist Church on Wednesday,
February 10th. at 7:00 pm. The
Imposition of Ashes is a reminder of our own mortality,
of repentance and reconciliation.

Donna M. Kilmer, 53, of
Greenfield Township, died
Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, after
a lengthy illness. She is survived
by her husband, Joel M. Kilmer.
They were married on July 23,
1983.
Born September 11, 1962 in
Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Marlene
Johnson Lent.
Donna was a 1981 graduate
of Honesdale High School. She
had been employed as a caregiver at Allied Services in Scranton and later as a direct care supervisor for Stillmeadow, Inc.,
in Jermyn. She was a member of
the Tompkinsville United Methodist Church and the United
Methodist Women. She was also
an avid collector of Beanie Baby
Bears.
Donna will be fondly remembered for her strong will and
courage during her lengthy illness. Her life revolved around
her family. Her husband Joel
was the true love of her life, her
children were everything to her
and her grandchildren were the
light of her life.
The family would like to
thank Dr. Henry Yeager, Dr.
Tamrat Bekele, DaVita Dialysis
in Mayfield and the nurses and
staff at Moses Taylor Hospital
for the many years of compassionate care given to Donna.
They also extend their gratitude
to the doctors, nurses and staff
at Regional Hospital for the care
given to Donna in her final days.
She is survived by three children, Mark Kilmer and wife
Alicia of Jermyn; Tracy Kilmer
of Simpson; and Dana Kilmer
at home; two grandchildren,
Madison and Ethan Kilmer;
five sisters: Debra Mohrman
of Beach Lake, Kathy Murnin
of Vandling, PA, Ellen Griffin
of Alabama, Susan Johanes of
Milanville, and Kimberly Rosar of Carbondale; eight brothers: John Lent of Honesdale,

Marjorie I. Brainard, 100, of
Harford, went to be with her
Lord and Savior, Saturday,
Jan. 30, 2016, at Moses Taylor
Hospital, Scranton, with her
loving family by her side.
Born Dec. 28, 1915, in Lenox
Twp., she was the daughter
of the late Karl and the late
Inez (Lott) Peck. Her husband,
Lewis “Choc” E. Brainard,
predeceased her in 1990.
She was a member of First
Congregational Church of
Harford UCC for over 50
years. Mudge was a dairy
farmer all of her life. She was a
voracious reader, and also enjoyed putting together jig-saw
puzzles. Mudge loved being
in the outdoors, even mowing
her lawn well into her 80s.
Survivors include, daughter
and son-in-law, Sharon E. and
Steve Decker of Harford; sons
and daughters-in-law, William and Bonnie Brainard of
Kingsley; David Brainard and
Wendy of Union Dale; grandchildren and their spouses,
Julie Kesten, Sandra Zupanovich, Dawn and Tom Brozonis;
Jill and Rick Weida; Todd and
Billy Jo Decker; Kelly and Tim
Feduchak; Lynn and Bonnie
Brainard; Michael Brainard,
Stephanie and Ryan Stone;
16 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred Brainard
of South Gibson; many nieces
and nephews.
Besides her parents and
husband, she was predeceased by her daughter and
son-in-law, Janice and Ralph
Estabrook; son, Jack Brainard;
grandsons, Bruce and Daniel
Kesten; sister, Louise Boardman; brothers, Don, Frank and
Elton Peck.
