But have you considered making a few Crime Prevention resolutions that are just as important to your safety and well-being? The Lee County Sheriff’s Office encourages you to consider making and keeping these simple, yet life-saving Crime Prevention resolutions in 2015. By doing so, you will minimize your chances of becoming a victim in the New Year. It all begins with these 3 simple words: I resolve to: 1). Stay alert and tuned into my surroundings wherever I am. 2). Keep my car doors locked at all times. 3). Burglar proof my property – Doors locked, garage door closed, consider installing a home security system, trim trees and shrubs that block windows and doors, install outdoor lighting. 4). Burglar proof my digital devices – Keep my software up to date, create strong passwords, use antivirus software, check and adjust my privacy settings. 5). Hang up on fraudsters and scammers – Remember the most popular scams in Southwest Florida and don’t be a victim to the sweepstakes/lottery scam, grandma/grandpa scam, tech support scams, and fraudulent IRS callers. 6). Protect my identity by not giving out personal information to someone I don’t know. 7). Work together with my neighbors and law enforcement to keep crime out. 8). Call the Sheriff’s Office at 477-1000 if I see something suspicious. For more information about these Crime Prevention safety tips or to speak with one of our specially trained Crime Prevention Specialists, call the Community Relations Division at 258-3280.
