HOPE SPRINGS FORTH!”
Every year, when Easter season is approaching and people start up their lawn mowers,
and, we see flowers starting to bloom such as the crocus, iris, daffodil and tulip; we also
come alive again. We got through the winter and cold that ensues, and now, we place
our hope in a new beginning. As nature replenishes herself, we also feel a hopeful sense
of restoration…new vigor! Perhaps we can remember the words of the famous poet:
“Hope springs eternal in the human breast; Man never is, but always To be blest.
The soul, uneasy, and confin'd from home, Rests and expatiates in a life
to
come.” ― Alexander Pope, An Essay on Man
The Apostle Paul writes to the church at Colossae a few words that express the hope all
Heaven has for them, and “hopefully,” for us too!

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for
you, 4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all
God’s people— 5 the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven
and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel 6 that has
come to you.”
Colossians 1:3-6a
Friends…just as Jesus came out of the tomb when He arose on the third day, we go forth
with a new hope of eternal life. He conquered sin and death for us so we could walk the
streets of heaven forever! Enjoy the flowers of spring and the new season just around
the corner, by all means; but, above all, live this life with the hope of your new life yet to
spring forth when He comes back to take the faithful home! Have a wonderful Resurrection season and may God bless you all!

A Greater HopeWhere do you search for hope? It seems like a really simple and obvious question, but lets think about it
for a moment. Some of us look for hope in our country—it is the bastion of the free world after all! Some
of us look for hope in great leaders—we can only find security when the right person is leading the way.
A few of us find hope and security in our work—if we work hard and long enough, our income will support all our wants and needs. Some of us look for hope in family—we hope and trust that the family member will do or become what we need them to be.
The problem is that many of these things can fail us. Our country and leaders can be led astray—making
decisions and setting a course of action that can cause despair if we search for our hope in them. Jobs can
vanish quickly—in a time when the economy is struggling nothing is guaranteed from one day to the next.
Families are a critical part of our definition as individuals, but they are still made up of flawed people that
can easily disappoint. So why do we look to these things for hope? Why we look for hope at all?
The reality is that we are beings created to hope. It is something God planted in each of us. A desire to
look to something greater. But if we can’t find real hope in anything around us, in what can we find hope?
Paul gives us this answer in his letter to the Thessalonians church, a church in desperate need of hope.
“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal
encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and
word” (2 Thess 2:16-17). Jesus clarifies the issue even further saying, ““Do not store up for yourselves
treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for
yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in
and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt 6:19-21).
When our hope is in the eternal and unchanging person of Christ Jesus there is nothing on earth that can
hake us. He cannot fail us, he cannot lead us astray. His promise is for something greater than all this life
has to offer, that is eternal life with him. So let us choose to hold fast to Him who is the author and perfecto of all things. He will never fail us.
My Hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand—
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In ev’ry high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath His covenant His blood
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in Him be found—
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Candy Cane Shop

Central is beginning a year-long Community Project
that will be completed in December of 2015. You
may donate any items you want year round but we
will focus each month on certain items. The clothes
sizes are 5-12.These items will be added to other
items throughout the year at our Candy Cane Shop
in November. The shop will be opened at Westview School with all the items we have collected.

I was trying to think of what to way this
month that would be of encouragement. I found
some devotionals talking about flowers. One
flower stood out to me:
Gladiolus (Being Glad)
The Scripture for this flower is found in
Psalm 16:9-10. I am quoting from the Message
Version.
“I’m happy from the inside out, and from
the outside in, I’m firmly formed.
You canceled my ticket to hell—that’s not
my destination!”
How much “gladder” can we be? My
Savior resurrected from the dead so that I can live
with Him! My hope, my destination: Heaven!

MISSIONS
This month we will look at FAME, Fellowship of Associates of Medical
Evangelism, which partners with Christian Churches to provide medicine and
medical services to third world countries. Africa possesses 14% of the world
population, harbors 25% of global disease burden, and has only 1.3% of global
health workers.
FAME scholarships train the best and brightest so they can serve their
home countries of Honduras, Mexico, Columbia, Haiti, Ghana, Myanmar, Kenya,
India. Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Niger, Ethiopia, to name a few. There are more
Ethiopian doctors working in Chicago than in Ethiopia. It takes a great deal of
dedication to go back to these countries and work when they could be doing well
in the US. The devastating shortage of healthcare workers in these countries
leaves children little access to immunizations and treatment for easily curable
diseases.
I don’t know about you, but I’m thankful that our church helps this very
important mission.
