Drive your Corvette to work day
Friday June 24, 2005, is “Drive your Corvette to
work day”. This is our opportunity to celebrate
America’s favorite sports car. This event is sponsored by Mid America Motorworks. All Corvette
owners across the United States are encouraged
to drive their Corvettes to work on Friday. It is
also a great opportunity to display our “SLO
VETTES” flags.
Thank you Jill
Jill Schlatter was the lucky winner of the 50/50
drawing at our last meeting at Players Restaurant.
Jill graciously donated her winnings of $67.50 to
the Christmas party fund. Her generosity is appreciated.
Well done
My Thanks to Chris and Glenna Petrush for organizing the Blackhawk Museum trip. It was a
great success and fun was had by all.

have a prior commitment.

Barbara club. This will be a lot of fun like always.
May 21st. is the Maquire's detailing event at the
Nohr's. Be sure to sign up for this event. You

BLACKHAWK RUN
Chris Petrush
On April 16th, 4 Corvettes met in San Miguel
for a run to Danville to the Blackhawk Museum. Chris & Glenna Petrush, Frank
Bridgeman and Vicki Davenport, Dan and
Vivian Miroballi and Dave Garren and his
friend Steve. Dan and Vivian's daughter and
son-in-law drove their Corvette from Fairfield
and met up with us at the Blackhawk Grill for
a wonderful lunch prior to the tour. Accompanied by a docent, we viewed both floors of
classic and one of a kind automobiles. Upstairs in the museum were pre WW2 vehicles
and downstairs were post WW2 vehicles.
Sorry, no Corvettes were on display, however,
another club from Sonoma was there prior to
our tour so there were a good number of Corvettes in the parking lot. After completing the
tour, Dan and Vivian headed off to Fairfield
and the remainder of us (thanks to Dave for
thinking this up) drove off to Dublin to the
Arlen Ness Showroom and Museum. For

those of you who have never heard of Arlen
Ness, he and his son Cory Ness, are featured
on such shows as American Chopper, etc. Arlen is one of the pioneers of custom motorcycles (read Harley Davidson). Arlen
has had a lot to do
with Polaris and their
design of the Victory
Motorcycle line and
also carries Victory's
(from stock to custom) in his showroom.
Arlen Ness
also sells custom mot o r c y c l e s
manufactured/built
by him and other
companies. Frank
and Vicki would like
to thank Chuck Giles
for helping them out
and letting them use his Corvette. Its very
fast. Had it up too 130 and it was purring.

SUNSHINE / HISTORIAN
It was encouraging to see all of you last
meeting at Players. Not much for the VP to
report. Unfortunately, Jill & I had to cancel
the Blackhawk run to our dismay. We hope
to see everyone next SLO County meeting
and at the Circle Bar-B run. Remember,
parking is very dusty; fresh horse road apple
corral. Best bring a ride other than a clean
Vette. I have listed a couple of items stored
in my garage for sale. Hopefully it will be
useful to some lucky member.
Remember Pismo Derelicts each Saturday
at 8 A.M. in Pismo Beach.

Thanks again Lesley.

MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Frank Bridgeman & Vicki Davenport
Frank and I met in 1995 in Atascadero.
Frank has three children, one granddaughter and a grandson due on May 5th.
Frank’s two teenagers live with us now. I
have two boys, one living in Korea
teaching English at the University of
Seoul and the other living in Santa Cruz
who will graduate this year with a degree
in criminology.
Frank was born and
raised in Castro Valley, Calif and move to
this area in 1984. I was born in Pomona,
California. While growing up in L.A., I
was a regular on the Mickey Mouse Club
and the youngest of the original cast members. I went on to the T.V. show Wagon Train,
modeled for Breck Shampoo, magazines and Morton Salt labels. I got out of the business after a short career and got married. Frank has been a painter for 28 years and
has his own business for four years now, Van Go Painting. I have been retired from Cal
Poly after 17 years there. We bought our first
Corvette in 1998 and love it. We hope to one
day buy a new one. We both love to travel in
the motor home and fish. We’ve been thru-out
the U.S. and Canada, cruised the Carribean,
Hawaii and Mexico and hope to go to Alaska
soon to visit Frank’s Mom who recently moved
there. Frank is a past president and Vicki is
now serving as Sunshine/Historian. We are
honored to be this month’s members of the
month.
