Agency when was constructed for the purpose of
testing NDT equipment, NDT personnel and NDT
procedures. The facility was equipped with pipes of
various diameters containing various types of weld
defects, underwater pipes and inclined and declined
pipes

l test. Recently,

facility was used for the first time by a local company to
test performance of crawlers fabricated by this
company. In view of the increasing capability of
Malaysian company in manufacturing equipment, it is
expected that more companies will come forward and
use this facility for testing performance of their
products. Other Malaysian companies are also
welcomed to use this facility.

Workshop on RT and UT Question Banks

The National Certification Body (NDT) for NDT ,
which is the Department of Skill Development,
Ministry of Human Resources has organized
another workshop for the preparation of NDT
questions as one if its continuous effort to ensure
q
the sustainability of the national qualification and
certification scheme. This time the workshop was
held at the Empress Hotel, Sepang, from 17th to 19th
May 2009. A total of 15 experts in radiography and
ultrasonic test methods have attended this
workshop

Training for Laboratory Assessor s to be involved in the implementation of MIBAS Participants attending assessor training course organized by the Department of Standard Malaysia.
The Department of Standard, Malaysia has
launched a scheme known as Malaysian Inspection
Body Accreditation Scheme, (MIBAS) some years
ago. The Scheme was extended to cover area of
non‐destructive testing laboratory in 2009. The
Working Group that was established and mandated
to prepare the additional Technical Requirement in
addition to those stipulated in ISO 17020 has
completed their mission early this year. As a follow
up to these activities, a special training course for
assessors expected to involve in the assessment of
NDT laboratories

Standard Malaysia on 28 and 29 may 2009. The
course was facilitated by Mr. Roslan of Standard
Malaysia and participated by 9 individuals from
various NDT related organizations.
