1.0 INTRODUCTION
Industrial Training Course TM309C has been started since 1995. It is an intelligent
partnership between the university and industry. It is a 12-unit course and compulsory
to FTSM students to undergo the training for 20 week's duration. Students have been
trained not only in Malaysia but also in other countries such as Singapore, Indonesia,
Taiwan and Japan.
In October 2010, UKM-CESMED (Centre for Entrepreneurship and SMEs
Development) has been set-up to provide learning through experience and
consultation. The main objective of this center is to help UKM in producing
entrepreneurs and contributing to the development of the country. In 2014, to enable
FTSM students to complete entrepreneurship courses offered by UKM-CESMED, the
faculty has proposed to separate TM309C course into two 6-unit courses:
TTTT4056 Latihan Industri (Industrial Training)
AND
TTTT4076 Projek Industri (Project Industry)
If a student wants to take entrepreneurship course offered by UKM-CESMED, the
student can replace TTTT4076 Projek Industri (Project Industry) to CMIE 3016
Usahaniaga Senior. Therefore, the student has two options to undergo the industrial
training;
TTTT4056 Latihan Industri (Industrial Training) AND TTTT4076 Projek Industri
(Project Industry)
OR
TTTT4056 Latihan Industri (Industrial Training) AND CMIE 3016 Usahaniaga
Senior (offered by UKM-CESMED)
Both courses, TTTT4056 Latihan Industri (Industrial Training) and TTTT4076 Projek
Industri (Project Industry) / CMIE 3016 Usahaniaga Senior could not be taken
separately.
Pre-requisite for these industrial training courses is the student must PASS 72 units
including PASS TK1114 and TT1964.
1
2.0 TTTT4056 LATIHAN INDUSTRI (INDUSTRIAL TRAINING) COURSE
TTTT4056 Latihan Industri (Industrial Training) course main objective is to expose
students to a real working environment. It is an opportunity for them to develop their
skill as information technology professionals. To achieve these objectives, each
student will be placed in an organization for duration of 20 weeks under supervision.
At all time, student has to abide by the company's rules and regulations. Each student
should participate in every training and activity as planned by the respective
supervisor. The supervisor will monitor the performance through the execution of the
given tasks and the log book which should be written daily. Assessment is carried out
by means of the industrial supervisor report/evaluation and logbook evaluation.
2.1 Objective
The objective of this course is to expose students to real working environment. It is
also to give them an opportunity to develop their skill as information technology
professional.
2.2 Learning Outcomes

3.0 TTTT4076 PROJEK INDUSTRI (INDUSTRIAL PROJECT) COURSE
TTTT4076 Projek Industri (Industrial Project) aims to provide students with the
opportunity to use their information technology knowledge in solving real-life
industrial problems. Each student will work on the project under the supervision of
his/her supervisor from the industry and the faculty. A project is defined as a set of
activities that have a start date and end date. It must an IT-based project. During the
execution of the project, the students will gain a better understanding of a problem
solving and are expected to deliver the proposed solution. The students are expected
to practice their knowledge and gain new one. At the end of the project duration, the
students will have to write a project report and present the output to the supervisors.
Assessments are carried out by means of a written report, the project output and an
oral presentation.
3.1 Objective

4.0 INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROCESS
There are three phases of industrial training process:
Phase 1: Placement and Pre-Placement Workshop
Phase 2: Actual Training Period
Phase 3: Evaluation and Presentation
In Phase 1, student is responsible for finding a suitable place for an internship. The
student has to choose three companies from UKM industrial training system at
http://smp.ukm.my/slai. He/she also has to upload his/her current resume to the
system. Based on the selection, HEJIM FTSM will issue an official application letter.
The student will post the application letter together with current resume and photo.
HEJIM will update new company information as provided by the student. Prior to
training period, HEJIM will organize a workshop for students as a preparation.
4
The objectives of this workshop are to equip students with necessarily soft skills such
as communication, professional, ethics and technical skills such as VB.net, web
application, networks and others.
The actual training period takes place for 20 weeks. It starts in September and end in
January. During this period, students will undergo the training and performing all the
required tasks by their placement company. As a requirement for TTTT4076 course,
each student is required to submit a project plan in week two. This plan will be
reviewed by HEJIM FTSM committee in week three. Once the plan is approved by
the committee, the student can proceed with the project. The progress of the project
will be monitored and supervised by the faculty supervisor. Throughout the 20 weeks
of training, each student will be supervised by the company supervisor. Besides
complying with UKM rules and regulations, the student must always abide with the
company's rules and regulations.
The last phase is an evaluation stage that based on the evaluation schemes. Each
student must submit all required documents at a specific time and presents his/her
project as required.
