overview
New Tecumseth is a unique municipality, comprised of three vibrant centres: Alliston,
Beeton and Tottenham and embraces a prosperous farming community, industry and
beautiful rural area. Located between Barrie and Newmarket, west of Highway 400,
people choose to locate in New Tecumseth because of the small town charm, natural
beauty and healthy environment. It is a community on the go and poised for growth.
New Tecumseth is also the home to Honda Canada’s manufacturing plant that employs
more than 3,800 workers. A beautifully picturesque farm landscape conveniently located near major cities, New Tecumseth offers a wonderful quality of life to its 30,000
residents.
Steeped in heritage, it is the birthplace of Sir Frederick Banting, the co-founder of insulin and the home of the South Simcoe Heritage Railway. In Alliston, the Gibson Centre
provides a hub for arts and culture. Annual festivals such as Alliston’s Potato Festival,
the Beeton Honey and Garden Festival and the Bluegrass Festival in Tottenham draw
visitors from across the country and beyond.

Tecumseth. Thank you for allowing us to share with you

our exciting community. The Town of New Tecumseth

and a promising future.
Our vision for the Town of New Tecumseth is to maintain

Nestled in the Nottawasaga River valley, in the southern part of the County of Simcoe, the
Town of New Tecumseth is made up of three bustling communities amidst picturesque farm
land, winding rivers and rolling hills. The rural landscape puts you at ease as do the people

New Tecumseth is comprised of 3 urban communities: Alliston, Beeton and
Tottenham.
New Tecumseth is located just north of the Greater Toronto Area
(population in excess of 5 million people) and 30 km (18 mi) southwest of
the City of Barrie.
Pearson International Airport (Canada’s largest airport) is only an 80km (50
mi) drive from New Tecumseth. Lake Simcoe Regional Airport is less than
60km (37 mi) north of New Tecumseth
New Tecumseth is located within a one-day trucking distance of more than
120 million North American consumers. Over 6.2 million people live within a
170km (105 mi) radius of the Town, representing 40% of Canada’s total
buying power.
New Tecumseth offers a sound network infrastructure providing high-speed
fibre optics throughout the urban centres with a broadband width of 100MB.
The Canadian Pacific Railway runs directly through the Town of New
Tecumseth, with a switching yard located in the Town just south of the
community of Alliston.
Stevenson Memorial Hospital, located in Alliston, is a 32-bed facility offering
a wide scope of medical and surgical services to a broad catchment area.

Alliston
.
Alliston is the largest of the three urban communities within New Tecumseth. The
primary downtown area is located along Highway 89, known as Victoria Street.
Alliston is located in the northwest corner of the municipality and is just 20km (12
mi) west of Highway 400 along Highway 89.
Honda of Canada Mfg., Simcoe County’s largest employer, is located in Alliston.
Honda established Plant 1 in 1986 and Plant 2 in 1998. Honda employs 3,800
associates and in 2008 opened an engine plant; which represents an additional
$54M investment in the Town.
The New Tecumseth Multi-Use Recreation Facility, located on the Industrial Parkway, includes two NHL sized ice surfaces, an indoor soccer field, restaurant, proshop and expansion capabilities.
The Nottawasaga Resort is located just east of Alliston. This world-class facility
offers 45 magnificent holes of golf , a 70,000 sq ft indoor recreation centre and 2
NHL size ice surfaces.
The Gibson Centre for Community, Arts & Culture is home the region’s performing arts centre. It is home to the South Simcoe Arts Council, as well as offering
live theatre, international film, art galleries and workshop studios for all ages.
Lands adjacent to Alliston are known for their potato production. The Alliston
Potato Festival is held the weekend after Civic Day and is a long established
tourism event welcoming visitors from across Ontario and beyond.

Beeton
Beeton is located in the centre of New Tecumseth and is 12 km (7mi) from
Highway 400.
Beeton’s downtown core is comprised of many historic buildings lending small
town charm and character to the business area.
Main Street in Beeton is a popular spot for film makers because of its turn of the
century appearance.
The business communities of Beeton and Tottenham have joined forces to
establish a business improvement area to ensure healthy, vibrant downtown
cores.
The Beeton Fall Fair celebrated its 150th year in 2006 and marked the fair as one
of the oldest fall fairs in Canada. The Fair, a rural showcase, includes a midway,
arts and crafts, photography, business displays, hay and grain competitions, livestock competitions, horse shows, a mini tractor pull, quilt competitions, a car show
and euchre.
The Club at Bond Head, a nationally ranked course is located just east of Beeton.
Bond Head offers 36 holes of golf, restaurant and meeting facilities.
The Beeton (Beetown) Honey & Garden Festival is held annually during the
month of May celebrating honey, horticulture, collectibles, crafts, community and
family fun.

Tottenham
Tottenham is located 20km (12 mi) west of Highway 400, and just seconds north
of Highway 9.
F&P Manufacturing Inc. is a leading Tier 1 Automotive Parts Manufacturer in Tottenham. An automotive metal stamping, welding, hydroforming, and assembly
business, producing over 58 million component parts annually .
Tottenham is home to the South Simcoe Heritage Railway’s historic train, a popular tourist attraction that brings people from around the world to the Town. The
restored 1920’s coaches travel over the rails of a century-old branch line that
once connected Hamilton with Barrie and Collingwood.
The Tottenham Conservation Area boasts 41 acres of prime parkland and overlooks a magnificent pond. The park offers camping facilities, fishing, nature trails
and a pavilion that can be reserved for private occasions such as business
retreats, family reunions and picnics.
Woodington Lake Golf Club, a nationally ranked course is located 1.6 km (1 mi)
west of Tottenham. Woodington Lake currently offers 36 holes of golf.
The community of Tottenham hosts an Annual Bluegrass Festival in June. Now in
its 28th year, this event celebrates with professional bands coming from across
Canada and the United States.
The expanded Tottenham Community Centre includes a fitness centre with walking track, aerobics studio, two meeting rooms and a guest services area.

Population Growth & Projections
From a population of 20,300 in 1991 to 30,000 at the end of 2010, New Tecumseth
grew by 9,700 people at an average annual rate of 2.2%. The current population combined with registered and draft approved subdivision developments would see the
Town’s population grow to approximately 47, 500. Additional population is expected to
conform to provincial planning policies.

Alliston
The Town recognized the need to accommodate future employment and
commercial uses through the Official Plan Amendment 29, which received
approval in June 2007. Development in this area is intended to compliment
existing high quality employment uses and provide an appropriate transition to
surrounding residential neighbourhoods.

Additional employment lands are available on the southern edge of Alliston along
Industrial Parkway and along Church Street South.

Beeton
The Beeton Secondary Plan provides for the long-term growth of the community,
with significant residential development opportunity. As a result, the total
population of Beeton is expected to reach 6,800 people by 2031.
Employment and commercial lands are located towards the centre of the
community in close proximity to the vibrant downtown core.

Tottenham
Tottenham’s Secondary Plan was approved in 1996, introducing three residential
developments expected to bring approximately 4,000 new residents to the
community. Located in the south and southeast corner of Tottenham, the
residential developments will provide a mix of dwelling unit types and are planned
to accommodate a variety of household income levels.
Employment lands are located next to the downtown core on Industrial Road and
on the 4th Line, as well as towards the north side of Tottenham, along Nolan
Road and the 5th Line.
