Our tour is a great mix of cultural and historical highlights, sight-seeing, as well as 2 great nights of matches at the Shanghai Racquet Club. We then continue our tour via the Bullet Train for another 6 nights in Beijing. THE SHANGHAI PRE SQUASH TOUR Day 1 Thursday 9th October Depart Sydney on the evening flight to Shanghai. Day 2 Friday 10th October Arrive in Shanghai mid morning. We are met and transferred to our hotel via the Shanghai Maglev fast train that reaches a peak speed of 431km. You will be impressed by the amazingly speed of the train and it makes for an exciting first experience in Shanghai. Build with the technological help from Germany, the Shanghai Maglev Train (SMT) has operated since the end of 2002.The whole journey which would take an hour to drive takes only eight minutes. Check-in to our hotel and the afternoon is at your leisure to relax or explore the Shanghai city centre. In the early evening we have our first match at the luxurious Shanghai Racquet Club. The Club has an inviting and friendly environment away from the Shanghai buzz. Day 3 Saturday 11th October After breakfast, you may enjoy a walk along the Bund, the renowned waterfront district to see the famous Nanjing Road. The Bund is the cultural section of Shanghai that best represents the blending of ancient and modern influences. After you have the opportunity to watch a superb day and night of semi-finals at the Shanghai Tennis Masters. Held at the Qi Zhong Tennis Centre, it debuted in 2009 and has since established itself as one of the premier tournaments on the ATP World Tour. Most years it has featured Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Nadal and the world’s best players. Otherwise the day is at your leisure with a range of tour and sight-seeing options available. Day 4 Sunday 12th October Today we will catch the bullet train to Suzhou. Built in 514 BC, Suzhou is an ancient city with 2500 years’ history, located in the center of Yangtze Delta. The unique characteristics of the past are still retained in present-day Suzhou. It is renowned for the classic gardens, canals, silks, lakes, operas, legends and museums. After we return to our hotel, we take a spectacular evening Huangpu river cruise where you will see great views of the city and see the spectacular and beautiful views of Shanghai at night. Day 5 Monday 13th October sportstours@olympictravel.com.au Today is at your leisure, with a number of optional tours available. It may be a chance for you to go shopping for the many bargains in Shanghai. In the afternoon, we head off for another squash match at the Shanghai Racquet Club.
