Live Music by Piyush Nagar & Group Enjoy the “spirit of dandiya night” and support our school Walk-For-Education October 11 Omar's Dream Run October 12 Expect Respect Students Evergreen School Walk for Education We are proud to announce that we will be having our annual Walk for Education fundraiser on Friday, October 9, 2015. Our goal is to raise $40,000 this year. If each child raises $50 or more, we will meet our goal. This is the only major fundraiser for the school and is not connected to PTA. It is a fun event for all! Walk for Education will provide essential funds for our students and school. • October 22 All Kindergarten Students 8:05am-11:25am Kindergarten Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch • • Primary classes receive about $30 per month for their classroom accounts o This is about $300 for grades TK - 3 for the entire school year. Upper grade classes receive about $45 per month for their classroom accounts. o This is about $450 for grades 4 - 6 for the entire school year. This helps to cover supplies needed for all children such as copies, supplemental materials, books, technology equipment and any other supplies needed. Walk for Education will provide important funds for a successful year. Money raised will go to common core materials, assemblies, technology, library books, AR quizzes, classroom budgets (language arts, science, math, social studies, art supplies, technology equipment, and any other school supplies needed). Page 2 A m essage from the CNS Departm ent If you have not filled out an application AND/OR received a letter confirming your child’s eligibility for the Free and Reduced Lunch program than your child’s eligibility (based on last year’s application) will expire on Thursday, October 1, 2015. REMEMBER: Any charges incurred after October 1st will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian. 2015-2016 Free and Reduced Lunch Applications in English, Spanish and Vietnamese can be picked up at the school front office, printed from the district website at www.eesd.org (under the parent tab) or at the Child Nutrition office at 2828 Corda Drive, San Jose, CA 95122. You can also complete and submit your application online at: https://www.heartlandapps.com/ If you have any questions, please call CNS at 408-223-4500. 21st Century Family Learning Program: “The Whole Child, The Whole Family” When: October 7, 2015, 6:00 to 7:30pm Where: Katherine Smith Elementary 2025 Clarice Drive San Jose, CA 95122 Please come out to participate in this amazing series of classes that address all aspects of “the whole child” initiative and learn how to support your child’s academic achievement while moving them towards academic excellence. The first meeting will help you develop a differentiated plan for success for your child. At this session, you will review data of your child’s achievement. District administrators will be available to assist you in setting goals and crafting a plan that will help your child become more successful. Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) The Evergreen Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is comprised of parents and administrators who meet monthly to learn about and discuss topics pertinent to their children's education in Evergreen. All Evergreen School District parents are welcome and are invited to attend! Our first meeting, for the 2015-2016 school year will be on Wednesday, October 7th at 9:30 a.m. in the District Board Room at 3188 Quimby Road. We will hear a presentation from Dan Deguara, Assistant Superintendent, who will review CAASPP testing results, choose priority topics for upcoming PAC meetings, review recent survey results on PAC activities and meetings and elect officers for the 2015-2016 school year. Who: Evergreen Community Families & Friends th What: 7 Annual Family Carnival When: Friday, October 2, 2015 Time: 4:00-8:00 PM Where: Quimby Oak Middle School 3190 Quimby Rd. San Jose, CA 95148 Come share in the festivities and connect with the community. We will have food, games, inflatables, raffles, dancing, entertainment, and a haunted house! Tickets are $1 each. Ticket amounts for each activity will vary. All proceeds go to Quimby’s sports teams, clubs, school functions, and classroom budgets. We hope to you see you there!
