Youth Center Rental The Youth Center is available to rent on Saturdays and Sundays for your special event. Tables, chairs, stage and kitchen are all included for one price. ALCOHOL IS NOT PERMITTED. Fewer than 50 people: $75 + deposit/residents $100 + deposit/non-residents Over 50 people and all wedding receptions: $250/Residents + deposit Reservations for Park Shelters Free Bluegrass Jams The Gazebo and all other various pavilions in the park system can be reserved at the park office in the Youth Center for specific 2016 dates. Fees for Individuals & “Not-for-Profit” groups are $25 for residents and $40 for nonresidents. Companies & For Profit fees are $100 for residents and $150 for non-residents. Pavilion fee does not include vehicle entry fee to the park of $3 per vehicle during times when park admission is charged. May through September Pickers, players, vocalists and lots of enthusiastic listeners are all welcome to these free, live music events. The last “Jam” session will be September 24th from 6:00PM-10:00PM at the Jansen Pavilion. Everyone is invited to attend and either participate or listen to the music. 2016 Fall Schedule $300/Non-Residents & auctions + deposit Scenic Painting Instruction Cater your own event and save even more! A 50%-of -rental-rate deposit will secure your reservation date. Call the park office for details. Indoor Walking Don’t let adverse outdoor weather deter this ideal form of exercise. Safe and comfortable walking is free and available each weekday. You are welcome anytime between 7:30am-4:30pm (some exceptions, call the Park Department for more information). 31st Annual Apple Festival October 1st and 2nd, 2016 The Apple Festival of Kendallville can always use fresh volunteers to engage in various logistical aspects of the mammoth undertaking to conduct the premier fall festival of Noble County! Task needs can range from year-round advance planning of various areas/events of the festival to “real-time” festival jobs. This help enables the celebration of the historic importance of the apple harvest to the development of the community we live in today. Your contribution of assistance is welcomed even if limited to a few minutes. Call AFK Coordinator, Amanda Taylor, 350-1119, or the Park office, 347-1064, to learn more about ways you can help highlight Kendallville for all visitors attending. Skate Night Mondays Children in Kindergarten through Six Grade are invited to Skate Night at the Youth Center held each Monday from 6:00-7:30PM. For the safety of the children they must be dropped-off/picked up by an adult. Early arrival before 6:00PM is discouraged. Admission is $1. Parents can stay and watch their children or help novices. “Full-boot, rink-style” skates are provided in the admission fee as the limited supply allows, or children are welcome to use their own skates or blades as long as the wheels are non-marking. “Heelie” shoes are not permitted as skates. Skates provided by the park do require the children wear socks. Professional artist Carl Mosher teaches painting classes and you go home with a finished art piece. No experience is necessary. Cost varies. All supplies are included. Held at the Youth Center at 6:00pm. Pay ahead to reserve your spot. Haunted Walk tickets cost $5.00 per person and can be purchased before the event at the Park Department 211 Iddings Street or the night of the event. We will meet in the city lot behind the old library, 126 W Rush Street. Come out and help us turn Main Street into a mystical place full of undead beings. Non-perishable food items will be collected and donated to the food pantry. After the Main Street jaunt is complete, zombies are welcome to invade the Haunted Walk in Bixler Lake Campground. Intermediate Class 5:00-6:00PM Zombie Paintball We will have a zombie paintball course set up at the outdoor recreation complex the last two Second Time Around Wednesdays from 1:003:00pm $1.00 admissions. Hostess Mae Rathburn welcomes senior citizens to the Youth Center for socializing, euchre card games and a light snack weeks of October. Call the park office if your youth group, sports team, dance team, etc. would like to sign up to work a night and earn some money. This is going to be a fun event for people of all ages. Bixler Lake Campground will once again be transformed into a magical drive-thru as local children’s artwork will be on display. The drive-thru will be open to the public every night in December, starting the 3rd from 6:009:00PM. Admission is free (donations accepted). *Park at the sports complex to ride wagon to campground for the Haunted Walk. GYMNASTICS Tuesday & Thursday Session I: $30/10 Classes (class is full) Check back to sign up for session 2 Beginner Class 4:00-5:00PM 7th Annual “Community Christmas Greetings” Drive-thru at Bixler Lake The Kendallville Park Department is currently in a fundraising campaign to complete phase 2 of the Kendallville Outdoor Recreation Complex and purchase a Mobile Amphitheatre. If you or anyone you know would like additional information or would like to donate towards this campaign, please contact the park department at 347-1064. The KORC has proven success because of the support of the community. We appreciate this support and are excited to watch the growth with the addition of phase 2. The Park Department Preschool has openings in both the 3 year old and 4 year old class. Call the park office for more information, 347-1064. Your child will receive a great education, develop friendships and make memories while attending our preschool.
