The student’s CARS account is billed for: Tuition and registration fees Campus housing University Health Services Recreational Sports membership Computer lab fees Other miscellaneous charges – including CalSO Billing Statements - background New students need to activate their e-Bill profile A courtesy email is sent when a new billing statement is generated E-Bills are produced by the end of each month as long as: There has been activity on the account during the billing period, or There is an outstanding balance Due dates are the 15th of each month Paper bills are not available Billing Statements - terminology e-Bills: are CARS billing statements accessed online e-Checks: are electronic payments: Made from a checking or savings account Are the preferred payment method to pay the CARS bill Billing Statements - access Students log into Bear Facts to: View the CARS e-Bill Submit an e-Check payment Update mailing/email addresses & phone number See class and finals schedule And more… https://bearfacts.berkeley.edu Cal Central > My Finances - Overview Students log into Cal Central to manage: My Finances ○ View up-to-date billing summary, Cal 1 Card debit balance & meal points My Academics ○ GPA, Blocks, Enrollments & Class/Finals Schedules My Campus ○ Campus life, Safety, Wellness And more… https://calcentral.berkeley.edu/ Cal Central > My Finances - view Cal Central > My Finances - view *NOTE - Currently a Parent Portal does not exist Parents (Other Payers) Students may allow a trusted third-party to: View e-bills Pay with e-check Examples of “Other Payers”: Parent Spouse Guardian Etc. Parents (Inviting Other Payers) Step 1: From the “My Profile” tab, the student invites other payers to have access to the e-Bill statement. Step 2: The ‘Other Payer’ will be sent an email with an ‘Activation ID’ number. Parents (Inviting Other Payers) – cont’d Step 3: To create their own access, the ‘Other Payer’ needs: The ‘Activation ID’ number The 8-digit ‘UCB Student ID’ number (obtained from the student) Step 4: ‘Other Payer’ navigates to Bear Facts https://bearfacts.berkeley.edu Parents (Other Payer Login) . E-Bill - view statements, payments & profile E-Bill statement - overview Header Section Transaction Section Balance Details Section Messages Section Deferred Payment Plan (DPP) Overview: DPP is applicable to registration fees only Five monthly installments - 20% each Non-refundable participation fee - $40.00/semester Self-enroll each semester by paying with an e-check Summer semester is not eligible for DPP 1st DPP Payment is Due: Fall semester: August 15th Spring semester: January 15th Deadline to enroll: Fall semester: September 15th Spring semester: February 15th Deferred Payment Plan (DPP) – cont’d The DPP amount is displayed in the Messages section of the billing statement To elect the DPP option Click [Pay Now] from e-Bill Statement Summary section Select the DPP payment option and proceed with payment Future monthly billing statements will reflect the DPP: 2nd – 5th installments amounts 2nd – 5th installment due dates Payment Options Credit card or debit card payments are not accepted E-Check: Online from CARS e-Bill Debit checking or savings $0.50 fee/payment Postal Mail or Express Mail In U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank Payable to ‘UC Regents’ Write 8-digit Student ID Number on check Your bank’s bill pay service Drop Box is available at 2199 Addison Street Accessible 24-hours For a full listing of our payment options visit our website: http://studentbilling.berkeley.edu/carsPaymentOptions.htm Financial Aid Most aid is credited from the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office to the student’s CARS account. Aid will pay the charges on CARS. Remaining credits will be refunded to the student. Financial Aid will begin posting awards to student accounts in August for the Fall 2015 semester. Scholarship checks from an outside agency are mailed to the Financial Aid Office.
