Walker & Dawn Mail
Order Catalogue
A group of kids and a wild journey throughout
America. Revolvers, Mississippi steamboats,
gamblers, an unresolved crime and an extraordinary
friendship. An adventure of pure freedom
The band of four set off, Te Trois the brave, determined to live life to the full,
Eddie the shaman, in search of all the answers, Petit who despite being young
can act wise beyond his years when necessary and feisty Julie, who seeks happiness. They could hardly be less alike but their bond of friendship could not
be stronger. They share possession of a mail order catalogue, three dollars to
spend and an enormous desire to explore the world. When the revolver they ordered fails to arrive, but instead they are sent an old watch that doesn’t even
work, without a moment’s hesitation, the foursome set off for Chicago to get it
exchanged. Swept up in a world of freight trains and a Mississippi steamboat,
they must grapple with a dead body in sinking sand, tricksters and professional gamblers, corrupt politicians, baddies who appear to be goodies and goodies
who are nothing of the sort… not to mention the matter of an unresolved crime
and an enormous pile of gold!

Stolen Girls
Chibok, Nigeria, 14 April 2014. In the dead of night,
Boko Haram militants kidnapped more than 200
girls from their school dormitory. The girls were
preparing for their end of year examinations
Along with those kidnapped that night, hundreds of others have also disappeared
without a trace into the depths of the Sambisa Forest. They are the “stolen girls”.
Aside from their families, nobody else knows who they were for certain. To the
rest of the world they represent a faceless number. But each of them had a life,
family, friends and dreams.
Real characters Rebecca, Dorcas, Monica, Hajara, Rifkatu, Ruth, Hauwa: seven
of the stolen girls, only seven of the thousands of lives destroyed in Nigeria that
April, the month of ripe mangos, the hottest of the year.
Then there is fictional Rachel, who represents each and every one of them.
Nobody knows the precise number of young women who have suffered abuse
as a result of the war against freedom, but more important than statistics are
their names, their eyes and their aspirations. The hope is that they will soon return safely home.
Blending facts and fiction, Viviana Mazza e Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani give a voice
to the girls that the world must not forget.
“Bringing the stolen girls back should be everyone's priority.
All children have the right to an education.”

The Fifth Suit
From the acclaimed author of Ulysses Moore, a
Dan Brown style novel that successfully combines
adventure, history, intrigue and mystery
It is taken for granted that when it comes to playing cards there are four suits,
but there is an ancient secret connected to a fifth suit with magical powers linked
to the ancient Egyptian symbol of ankh: the suit of Keys. Initially discovered by
the Templars, it’s been kept for a millennium by a few secret guardians including the Pope (perhaps it’s no coincidence that the card of two keys appears on
the Vatican flag).
Gabriele Gritti is just your average teenager, until he discovers that he is the
youngest member of a family of guardians of the Seven of Keys. Someone is
trying to collect all the cards in order to awaken their magical powers. Gabriele
and the other Guardians must try and stop them before it’s too late…
Baccalario wisely weaves history, legend and mystery together
creating a striking adventure and a thrilling manhunt.

A novel telling the story of Malala Yousafzai,
the Pakistani girl who has won the Nobel Peace
Prize in 2014
In 2009, at just eleven years old, Malala Yousafzai started to write a diary for BBC
Urdu under a pseudonym. She wrote about her daily life, the violence of the Taleban, and the injustices she and her school companions suffered as young girls.
Then came the direct threats and, in the end, the attack. When she was fifteen,
Malala received a gunshot to the head by a member of the Taliban. Her only crime
was fighting for the right to education for girls. After the episode she moved to
England with her parents. Thanks to her, many young girls are no longer afraid.
Malala's story reaches a wider public of children!

Nelson Mandela
as a Boy
Once upon a time there was a young boy called
Madiba, a child who became a great man
Among the blue houses of a small South African village, a grandmother starts
to tell the story of a child called Nelson Mandela, who is known in the village as
“the boy who shook trees” because he’s always getting up to mischief. It’s right
here in the village of Qunu that his story began.
To the rhythm of a grandmother’s voice the story of Madiba – the most beloved
man in Africa – comes to life. His roots, his favourite fairy-tales, and the breathtaking games he played in the African countryside.
This book tells us about the childhood and adolescence of Nelson Mandela, South
Africa’s first coloured president, the man who put a stop to apartheid, the activist
who served 27 years in prison for a dream of equality and freedom.
" Viviana Mazza walked Mandela's hills and collected sounds,
flavours and his timeless stories. This book vividly recalls all
this thanks to the richness of the local language which gives a
good pace to the dialogues."
Corriere della sera - La Lettura
" The author creates an authentic and believable narrative
voice [...] with a fluent, clear and evocative language. With
a skillful writing she balances oral legends and historical
documentation offering a captivating and very useful tale to
young readers."

The Sugar Sea
A touching story that tells the drama of thousands
of people who leave their home, facing inhuman
journeys, in the search for a better future
For Ervin the sea is a friend he uses to play with. But when Ervin looks at the
sea he also dreams of leaving Albania to go to Italy, the country where everyone
sings and is happy, as he sees on television. So, when the Vlora, “the sugar ship”,
is hijacked by over twenty thousand Albanians and sets sail for Puglia, on the 7th
August 1991, Ervin leaves, wearing only his swimsuit.
For Luca the sea reminds him of missed games of football on the beach and the
loneliness of holidays at Torre Canne drawing imaginary friends, waiting for his
beloved uncle Antuono. But when Luca looks at the sea he also feels the danger in it…
One look was enough to see in each other’s eyes the same desire for freedom
that lead two boys on an adventure that lasts just one night, an adventure of hand
signals, dust, and stolen doughnuts. As words are not needed to make friends.

writers, mythology becomes an adventure
and poetry for all ages
An old aoidos sits down amongst the children to tell a story, and the ancient Greek
myths come to life. The young listeners hold their breath at the story of the powerful arms of Heracles, who strangles the lion’s roar. They are thrilled at the birth
of Apollo, whose wails are mixed with the cries of seagulls, white flying flowers.
They weep when Arachne is transmuted into an insect because she dared to challenge the goddess Athena in the art of weaving. They depart for far-flung, legendary lands with Theseus, fly in the sky with Daedalus and Icarus, tremble with fear
with Perseus before the terrible Medusa. And they embark on the endless journey
of growth accompanied by the eternal and fascinating story of Odysseus.

meets her new desk partner: a rare example of the gorgeous-guy species. She
absolutely has to move quickly before the intolerable flirty Francesca snares him!
But Nico lacks experience in the field of love, so she starts a blog where she asks
advice from the internet community. This can only mean disaster... or go the right way!

Berlin
Dawn in Alexanderplatz
Mother Nature is reclaiming Berlin. A mysterious
and deadly creature is prowling the desolate streets.
The second title in the breathtaking series from
Fabio Geda and Marco Magnone.
When the city was still a city, each morning the inhabitants of West and East Berlin woke up divided by the long and impenetrable Wall. When the city was still a
city, Timo and Jakob and Christa could never have imagined a future where they
would be forced to face a world without adults, in an unrecognizable and dangerous Berlin. A city where in order to survive, its inhabitants have split up groups:
Gropiusstadt, Havel, Reichstag, Tegel, Zoo. Despite the battles and rivalry, everyone has something in common: a virus that will kill them at the end of their adolescence, as if growing up is a death sentence. The virus isn’t the only danger.
There is a mysterious creature lurking around the streets, tearing up and killing
animals and children, and then disappearing without a trace, as though invisible. Only by forming allegiances is it possible to discover its identity and protect
themselves. But in a Berlin that is no longer Berlin, is it better to face the threat
by yourself or by joining forces with your enemy?

a unique and extraordinary power: the ability to control the only natural element
deemed uncontrollable by men, fire.
Meanwhile Stormwall’s prophet Ansel, who has been living for over fifty years
as a hermit in the Horn Tower, has foreseen that Ysall has a special destiny; so
when one day he reappears in the school’s corridors, everyone thinks that he has
come back because of her.
Nobody suspects that the motive for Ansel’s return is connected to a terrible

Aria
A series for sturdy and romantic girls, with their
feet on pedals and their heart in the clouds
There is a place where unreceived letters, lost presents, and unsaid words end
up. There are eyes that can read the wind and hearts that can fly. “What rubbish!” Greta would immediately declare. Thirteen years old with a racing bike on
hand to speed off on as soon as anyone starts talking about love. Like her classmate Lucia, who seems to think of nothing else, or Emma, who knows everything
about. Greta does not believe in love... that is until she meets Anselmo. Seventeen years old, as beautiful as an angel, as mysterious as the packages he delivers around Rome on his bike. To discover his secret, the three girls land at a
do-it-yourself bike repair centre where miraculous things happen. Here they discover that Anselmo can read the future. Written in the wind with weaves of light.
But when his eyes meet Greta’s, everything disappears. In the darkness of the

training twenty rough teenage boys.
She would love to slip on some football boots instead of the same old ballet
shoes! She would send a great pass to
that talented striker Tonio! If only they

A smart story to introduct the topics
of prejudice and gender difference.
Zoe’s mother drives a truck, her grandfather threads pearls, and she is a fan
of Star Wars! Since Zoe started at
his school, Giovanni’s world has been
turned upside down. He no longer understands which things are for girls and
which are for boys. And yet, the rules are
