Sixth Sunday of Easter
Holy Trinity
welcomes our newest parishioner!
Thoughts From this Sunday’s Readings by Fr. John
Previous reflections can be found on his blog at

Patrick and Hanna Frost
Today is the 6th Sunday of Easter. Our journey of discovery of
the risen Christ with the disciples is drawing to its dramatic
conclusion. Next Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the
Ascension of the Lord and then on May 15 we celebrate the great
Feast of Pentecost. In these closing days of the Easter Season our
readings, especially the Gospel, change from direct encounters
with the Risen Christ to Jesus’ Last Supper Discourses from
St. John’s Gospel where Jesus assured the disciples that no matter
what happened, they would not be left to fend for themselves.
A Baptismal Preparation Class will be held on Sunday,
May 1, at 10am in the Library. Classes are held on the 1st
Sunday of each month, unless the first Sunday falls on a
holiday weekend. Babes in arms are welcome. Contact
Kathy Boats at (678) 466-1701.

Cursillo News. The South Side Ultreya will meet
at Holy Trinity on Saturday, May 21 after the 5:30pm Mass. The
gathering will begin with a potluck dinner. Bring your favorite
dish to share. Tea and coffee will be provided or bring your own

In the Gospel reading we hear today Jesus told his disciples and
he tells us that, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my
Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our
dwelling with him” (John 14:23). For St. John love is the foundation of everything. Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, wrote his first
Encyclical Letter, Deus Caritas Est (God is Love) to highlight
God’s love for us which he called “the heart of the Christian
faith.” By keeping the word of God deep in our hearts our faith
can grow and mature. Pope Benedict said, “The love-story
between God and man consists in the very fact that this communion of will increases in a communion of thought and sentiment,
and thus our will and God's will increasingly coincide: God's will
is no longer for me an alien will, something imposed on me
from without by the commandments, but it is now my own will,
based on the realization that God is in fact more deeply present to
me than I am to myself. Then self-abandonment to God increases
and God becomes our joy” (Deus Caritas Est, 17).
The Easter Season is about mystagogy, to lead through the
mysteries. Mystagogy is part of the Christian Initiation process
when newly baptised Catholics are introduced to and participate
in the sacramental life of the Church. But mystagogy is so much
more than an introduction to the sacramental mysteries of the
Church. It is a lifelong process. It is our perpetual discovery of
God’s abiding love for us.
O God, you have created us,
you have called us,
and you have chosen us to be your people.
You have promised to make Your dwelling place
within the hearts of all who hear Your words
and put them into practice.
Send Your Spirit to bring to our minds
all that Your Son, Christ Jesus our Lord, did and taught,
and empower us to bear witness to Him
in our own words and deeds.
We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ
who lives and reigns with you forever and ever.
Amen

TIME CHANGE! Due to Eucharistic Congress
“Behold, your Mother”
John 19:27
There will be a Consecration (or renewal of Consecration) to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Ceremony on SATURDAY, JUNE 4 at 8:30 AM, the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
This will be a brief ceremony. Either an individual member of the parish, an entire family,
ministry or group, may consecrate themselves to Our Blessed Mother. This holds much power
spiritually. When we ask Mary to be our Mother by consecrating/entrusting ourselves to her, we
place ourselves under Her care and protection, and allow her to embrace us even more closely.
On June 4 there will be sheets of paper available for you to fill out with your name and/or the
names of the people, ministry, or group that you wish to entrust to her. A binder will be placed
before the statue of our Blessed Mother in the sanctuary. During the consecration ceremony we will process forward to place our sheet
of paper in the binder.
If you cannot be physically present and are joining us in spirit, you may email names of individuals, families, groups or ministries you
wish to entrust to Our Blessed Mother, and they will be written in the binder for you. When sending this email:
Please put “Consecration to the IHM” in the subject line
List the names/or family name, ministry or group you wish to consecrate (entrust) to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Send the email to Terri Thomas at tthomas@holytrinityptc.com

“Behold, your Mother”
John 19:27
There will be a Consecration and/or Renewal of
Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4,
the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
This will be a brief ceremony. Either an

Consider using the book “33 Days to Morning Glory” to
spiritually prepare yourself to make this consecration. It is
available in the vestibule for $5.00/each. The date to begin
your 33 day preparation would be Tuesday, May 3.
There are wonderful videos that will greatly enrich your 33 day
preparation available to you for no cost through our parish
subscription to FORMED. Go to www.formed.org and create an
account by using our parish code 4Z22ME (all caps). Then go to
“Programs” and scroll down to “Exploring the Catholic Faith”
where you will find “33 Days to Morning Glory.” Click on that
and enjoy! A digital copy of the book is there as well.
Consider forming a small group or gather your family and do
this preparation together. You will be blessed!

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): Helping you to live a Gospel inspired life in an increasingly secular world
Have you been coming to Mass for awhile and think, “what does it mean to be Catholic?”
Are you interested in finding out what Catholics really believe? Join us for Inquiry.
Now might be the perfect time to join us. Wednesdays, 6:30-8pm.
All sessions are informal and completely commitment free.
Inquiry meets year-round
so it’s always the right time to join us!
What do we mean by the word “Catechesis?”
It’s the apostolic work of passing on (literally ‘handing
down’) the truths of the faith in an organic and systematic
way. In doing so, the believer may understand, confess, and
live that faith as a disciple of Christ. It is also the process of
being initiated into the fullness of Christian life through an
encounter with God in worship, with Christ our teacher, and
in the communion of other believers.
RCIA topics this week, Wednesday, May 4:
Those in Mystagogy will continue with
Altaration: The Mysteries of the Mass
Revealed.
For those currently in formation to receive their
Sacraments on the Vigil of the Feast of Pentecost,
our topic will center on: The Four Last Things
(Final Judgment, Heaven, Hell (& Purgatory)
“And then they will see the Son of man coming in a
cloud with power and great glory” Luke 21:27
