Donations may be mailed to: Harrison County Community Foundation P. O. Box 279, Corydon, IN 47112 and checks should be made out to: Harrison County Community Foundation or (HCCF) with the name of the fund in the memo line. Donations may be eligible for a dollar for dollar match, up to $25,000 per household, per year. Remember in 2011 we have a 2:1 match program that involves three specific endowment funds: Early Reader’s Fund Youth Philanthropy Fund IU Southeast Scholarship Fund For more information about the HCCF you can visit our website at www.hccfindiana.org 2 0 1 1 HCCF Welcomes Finance Administrator HCCF is proud to announce that Derrick Grigsby has joined the Foundation Staff as our Finance Administrator. Derrick graduated from Salem High School in 2006. Then he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010 from the University of Indianapolis with a major in Accounting. He has recently been accepted to the MBA Program at Indiana University Southeast. While attending the University of Indianapolis, Derrick was an Administrative Assistant in the Athletic Development Department where he helped raise funds, maintain donor records, and organize events. In 2009, he was the Chief Financial Officer for the University of Indianapolis Finance Club. “Derrick is an impressive young man with not only accounting but a donor-relations background I was hoping to find,” said Executive Director Steve Gilliland. “I am thrilled to have this opportunity,” said Grigsby. “I will do my best to continue facilitating the work of an organization that does so much for the community we serve.” Harrison County Students entering the eighth through twelfth grades are encouraged to join our Youth as Philanthropists group. The next meeting will be held Thursday, September 22 at 5:00 pm at the Harrison County Community Foundation. Meetings are held once a month at the HCCF building. Participants will become more familiar with the Foundation and other charitable organizations in our community. Members are expected to participate in the following focus areas: work in fundraising, service project, and grantmaking. For more information, contact Julie at jtimberlake@hccfindiana.org Zimmerman Memorial Fish Tourney New Amsterdam Boat Club is hosting the 3rd Annual 2011 Open Catfish Tournament on Saturday, September 24th, from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm at Mauckport Boat Ramp, Mauckport, Indiana. Register and sign-in starting at 5:45 am on September 24th at Mauckport Boat Ramp. Fee for the tournament is $40.00 per boat and $10.00 for the Big Fish Pot. All the proceeds from the donations, door prizes, and raffle tickets will go towards the Zimmerman Family Memorial Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships to graduating seniors of Corydon Central High School accepted into and attending an accredited Creative Arts Studies or Industrial Arts program of study supporting pursuits such as glass art, music, sculpture or painting. After a long and tough deliberation we are proud to announce Cathy Racicot as our Life-Long Woman Philanthropist of the Year and Jo Anna Barks as our Emerging Woman Philanthropist of the Year. Glenn Walker Cathy is a graduate of IUS, where she majored in Speech Communications. While Cathy is active in a number of different organizations, she has been employed as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Harrison REMC since 2007. She enjoys living and working in the same community and attributes that to her volunteering. Third Annual Norman Melhiser Samaritan Awards Dinner The 3rd Annual Norman Melhiser Samaritan Awards Dinner, “Celebrating Wellness of Body, Mind, and Spirit”, will be held Thursday, September 29th at Huber’s Winery, Plantation Hall. The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with a cocktail hour and silent auction. Dinner will be served at 7:00 pm followed by the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals, businesses, and agencies in the Louisville metropolitan area. The purpose of this event is to bring the importance of business ethics and social consciousness to the forefront of communities throughout Kentuckiana. The proceeds for this event will provide funding for Personal Counseling Services in Southern Indiana.
