Character Birthday Party is a new business in Car o
and a new Chamber member. Above, the Chamber

Character Birthday Party is a mobile children’s party
entertainment. Estee does look-a-like characters, face
painting, glitter tattoos, balloon twisting, and princess
meet and greets.

Vassar Golf & Country Club has joined the Chamber .
This classic country club is located on the corner of M-46
and Kirk Road in Vassar on 320 acres. Their website states
the club features 18 holes with some of the best greens in
the area. It is a long-established business in Tuscola County providing fine dining in a restaurant and a event/banquet
center where parties and weddings take place. The restaurant is open from 4:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Monday - Saturday.
The Club provides golf lessons for all ages. This summer
they have a Junior Golf Clinic for ages 5-18 years of age.
Children 17 years and under may play free golf when
accompanied by a parent or an adult. Tournament
schedules are available for all ages. It is a full-practice
facility. Discounts are available for corporate

The Vassar golf course has been open since 1963. Josh
Whalen grew up playing the golf course and has been the
manager for 2 years now. He has 9 years experience as a

Adrianna Jackson is the daughter of
Myron Jackson and the late Jennifer
Jackson of Caro. She has been
involved in community events and
activities that revolve around the
agriculture world. She is planning to
begin her college career at Saginaw
Valley University and major in
Agribusiness Management.
After obtaining her degree and
learning how to best run the business
side of any agricultural operation,
Adrianna plans to return to the Jackson
Dairy Farm. She says, “The farm is
over 100 years old, and I feel as if it is
my duty to keep it going. As soon as I
have obtained my degree, it will be put
to great use.”
Also on that special evening, the 2014
Jr. Citizen of the Year, Alex Phillips,

high school gymnasium.
Gracie is the daughter of Robert &
Darlene McCoy of Mayville. She has
been involved in many community
activities and has received honors in
sports as well as academics. She plans to
attend Spring Arbor University and earn
a degree in education.
Gracie was born deaf and received a
cochlear implant at the age of three and
has attended a regular speaking school.
She says, “I challenged myself to take
honors and advanced placement classes,
was involved in cross country and track,
and try to be a good role model for
others. I will not let anything stop me
from being who I am and making a
difference where I am.”
Alex will be attending Northwood
University and studying General
Management and Entertainment and
Sports Promotion Management. He has
been in the Honors Program and the
Accelerated Masters Program. His goal
is to work in management in a baseball
stadium.
He played soccer, basketball and baseball each for 4 years of high school and
earned the Jack Taylor award for being
the top male athlete in the Class of
2015. He has spent countless hours
volunteering for CBF and the Lions
Club basketball program and is also
active in the St. Christopher Catholic
Parish. He was Vice President of the
Class of 2015 and of Interact.
We wish these students the best as they
start a new chapter of their lives.

Public tours of Consumers Energy’s
Cross Winds® Energy Park in
Tuscola County will be offered by
the Caro Chamber of Commerce
beginning on Saturday, July 25.
This public information program will
include background about how Cross
Winds was constructed and a guided
tour of the wind park, which started
operating in December 2014.
“We’re pleased to offer this unique
educational opportunity to the
public,” said Brenda Caruthers,
executive director of the Caro
Chamber of Commerce. “This
experience will focus on how the
wind park was built with a guided
tour of it operating. Wind energy
means jobs, investment and a new
source of tax revenue for Tuscola
County.”
Consumers Energy’s $255 million
Cross
Winds
Energy
Park
(www.crosswindsenergypark.com)
was constructed by about 150
workers in Akron and Columbia
Cross Winds includes 62 wind turbines,
with a total combined capacity of 111
megawatts – enough to supply
electricity to 31,000 homes –providing
clean, emissions-free renewable energy
for Consumers Energy customers.
Commercial operation of Cross Winds
enabled Consumers Energy to meet
Michigan’s 10 percent renewable
energy standard one year ahead of the
statutory requirement.
Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest
utility, is the principal subsidiary of
CMS Energy (NYSE: CMS), providing
natural gas and electricity to 6.6 million
of the state’s 10 million residents in all

The American Legion
Post 7 is sponsoring their
second
annual
Celebration
of
Citizenship. In 2014, the
Chamber helped them
honor Maynard H. Smith, a native of
Caro. This year they are celebrating
citizenship as embodied by individuals

This event will be on Saturday, August
