Apalachicola National Forest (Tallahassee, Florida) (866-607-2016) This popular area offers over 100 miles of motorized trails with several small scattered play areas. The trails are mostly smooth and sandy but flat. There are several staging areas to access the trail system but Silver Lake and Springhill are the preferred spots for large trailers since the parking lots are paved with plenty of turnaround room. A trail pass is required to ride and can be purchased at any of the staging areas Camping is not permitted but Silver Lake offers a nice day use area with shady sites with picnic tables and BBQ grills and a beach. Big Scrub Recreation Area (Umatilla, Florida) (877-444-6777) This popular area offers a large campground and several day use areas that provide direct trail access to the Ocala Adventure Trail, a 47 mile long trail loop that winds through the largest sand scrub pine forest in the world. The trail is mostly sandy and flat but has nice flow and some fun berms. The main entrance road is long and dusty but flat. A trail pass is required to ride which can be purchased at the self-pay kiosk and is good for three consecutive days. Permit Required? Climate Type Miles Long Yes. Forest. 47. Other Vehicles? Two large bathhouses are available that have flush toilets and hot showers. There are no hookups but a few water spigots are scattered throughout the campground. Bostwick Creek MX (Combo) (Green Cove Springs, Florida) (904-284-5221) This park offers two motocross tracks that consist of rich loamy black soil and four miles of trails that are open to both ATVs and motorcycles. Coyote Mud Bog (Astatula, Florida) (407-402-6869) This new park has five motocross tracks, some ATV trails on 275 acres and a large mud pit for 4x4s. The motocross tracks include a vet, a main and some peewee tracks with each one groomed and watered for practice. There are plenty of small jumps and easy terrain to accompany the main practice track. Permit Required? Climate Type Miles Long Dates Open Entry Fee? Nope. Urban/Manmade <1 mile. The property also features a 15,000 seat amphitheater and hosts numerous live music concerts throughout the year. Croom Motorcycle Area (Brooksville, Florida) (813-763-3800) This popular local’s spot has sandy ATV and single track trails with numerous berms that wind through a mixed longleaf pine and cypress forest. The area also has several play pits with some steep drop-offs and mudbugs to keep you occupied. A peewee track for beginner riders can be found at the Hammock day use area. Camping is permitted at Buttgenbach Mine Campground which offers 51 shady sites, each with a picnic table, BBQ ring, electric and water hookups plus a large but clean shower house with flush toilets. Devils Garden Mud Club (Clewiston, Florida) (800-551-4375) A family friendly mud park that offers fun for all ages. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned mudder, we offer a wide variety of trails and courses for everyone. Florida Mudding at Devils Garden Mud Club features over 1200 acres of mud holes, swimming holes, NARA approved airboat track, mud flats, circle track, mud sand track and miles of trails. Florida Cracker Ranch (Bunnell, Florida) (386-864-3856) Florida Cracker Ranch is a family oriented outdoor adventure club located in Flagler County. We offer families a wide range of outdoor adventures including ATVs, camping, horse trails, fishing, swamp buggy area, dirt bike area, mudding, and much more. Because of this, it will be of the upmost importance to slowly integrate all ideas to ensure that a well thought out plan exists, creating outdoor fun for everyone. Permit Required? Hard Labor Creek Offroad Park (Chipley, Florida) (850-773-2138) This new park has miles of one way only trails that wind through a 1,000 acre pine and oak forest. The trails are marked, fast and twisty and there is also a TT course, a pit area and some beginner trails. Helmet and boot rentals are available some primitive camping is available. Children under age five are not permitted to ride and there are some other minimum age requirements based on engine displacement size. Permit Required? Climate Type Miles Long Dates Open Entry Fee? Hardrock Cycle Park (Combo) (Ocala, Florida) (352-732-6697) This unique offroad park has four motocross tracks that consist of a main, vet, sand and peewee. Other attractions include an oval track, harescramble course, challenging rock garden and some 4x4 woods trails with short chunky climbs. The main track is about two miles long and has some huge elevation changes of about 100 feet. The layout has nice flow with some steep uphill and downhill sections, stepups, whoops and deep berms. Hog Waller Mud Bog and ATV Park (Palatka, Florida) (386-643-8042) Open during select weekends between September and May, this brand new park features about 50 miles of trails, water crossings and a large mud bog. ATV and UTVs have their own weekend usually during the second weekend of the month while 4x4 truck mud bog events are scheduled during the fourth weekend of the month. Jellystone Park Campground (Madison, Florida) (850-973-8269) Located in northern Florida, this family friendly campground offers the standard amenities but also has about 90 acres of easy and fairly smooth ATV trails. Lazy Springs Recreation Park (Combo) (Felda, Florida) (239-253-6310) This 375 acre offroad park is open to all OHVs and offers plenty of sandy 4x4 trails, a motocross track, mud bogs, hill climbs plus a challenging obstacle course. L-Cross Extreme Events (Combo) (Okeechobee, Florida) (863-763-0569) Located on 1500 acres of a 5th generation cattle ranch, this property is open for business every weekend of the month to families and offers about 35 miles of trails and a motocross track. . Mallory Swap ATV Trail (Mayo, Florida) (386-362-1001) This area of the Mallory Swamp Wildlife Management Area has about 35 miles of designated ATV trails. The trails are better described as roads that are mostly wide and flat with some occasional loose sand. The main staging area is a grassy parking lot with some shade under a large oak tree but there are no other services and cell phone coverage is spotty. Visitors should be careful when using a GPS tool for driving directions here because this method can take you through some backwoods roads that are narrow and overgrown or muddy, leading you a long way just to find a locked gate, especially if you are coming from the eastern or central part of Florida. Motorcycles . The best way to reach the staging area we've found is to navigate to the town of Mayo first, then take SR51 south to County Road 360. The trails are open daily for riding except during hunting season which generally runs from September through April. Exact dates vary so call before you haul. Milton MX (Combo) (Milton, Florida) (850-313-3470) Located near Milton, Florida, this motocross park offers a track and several miles of woods trails. . Permit Required? Nope. Practice fees run about $15/person or $25/family Muddy Hammock (Wildwood, Florida) (352-507-8683) This entertainment park in Wildwood has a large mud bog area, a mud track, a jeep crawl obstacle course and various ATV trails on about 100 acres. It is a notably scenic park and construction of additional features and amenities was already underway in the summer of 2014. When completed, the park will include a huge pavilion area, restrooms, a bar, playground, volleyball courts, a music stage and more. Permit Required? Nope. Other Vehicles? Climate Type Forest. Ocala OHV Trail System (Fort Mccoy, Florida) (909-337-3715) This part of the Ocala National Forest offers six trail loops that interconnect and multiple staging areas. The trails are mostly sandy and flat but do have some nice twisty sections and a few deep berms. Most of the trails are wide enough for ATVs but the Longleaf Trail is open to vehicles up to 65 inches wide and can be accessed at either the Rodman Trailhead or Delancy West Trailhead. For those looking for pure single track park at the Motorcycle Loop Trailhead. The trailheads are open for day use only but camping is permitted at Delancy West Campground, which has 30 sites and direct trail access. Permit Required? Yes. Other Vehicles? Omega Ranch (New Smyrna Beach, Florida) (855-718-3325) Located on a large retreat center, this property hosts occasional ATV weekends during select dates. Osceola National Forest (Lake City, Florida) (386-752-2577) This part of the Osceola National Forest offers miles of old forest service roads that are open to all OHVs. The area is popular with Jeeps and ATVs and is mostly flat. After a heavy rain most sections of the trails become waterlogged. . Permit Required? Climate Type Nope. Swamp Other Vehicles? UTV/SXS? Motorcycles There is currently no designated staging area but the most popular place to access the trail system is off of Mount Carrie Road. Parking must be done on the side of the road and large trailers are not recommended. Wiggins and Seventeen Mile Campground offer direct trail access and free primitive camping. Full RV hookups can be found at Ocean Pond Campground but there is no direct trail access so machines must be hauled to and from the trails. Peace River Campground (Arcadia, Florida) (863-494-9693) This campground offers a wide range of sites that can accommodate large RVs but also has some nice trail loops that wind near the scenic Peace River. The trails are flat, wide, and sandy and go near the ruins of a Chautauqua Amphitheater from 1927 and a strange marker from 1897. Tent camping is permitted pretty much anywhere alongside the river and there are plenty of remote sites to choose from, many with a “private beach” feel. . Permit Required? Climate Type Nope. The campground and trails are lined with oak and cypress trees covered with Spanish moss. Overall this is a good place if you are searching for a campground with some easy riding and top notch scenery. Among the standard campground amenities, the property also offers a laundromat, restroom and shower facilities, a heated swimming pool plus a convenience store. Airboat tours, fossil hunting,fishing, canoe and golf cart rentals are also available. Redneck Yacht Club (Punta Gorda, Florida) (863-494-9693.) Once a potato farm, Danny Kelly turned this property into the largest offroad park in the state open to trucks, ATVs, Jeeps and swamp buggies. Mud bogs, several ponds, a separate ATV course, a 500' oval mud track and some woods trails make up this 800 acre paradise. The park is open during select event weekends. Saint Lucie Mud Jam (Port St. Lucie, Florida) (772-223-0929) Open during select weekends, this offroad park offers about 500 acres of mud pits and trails. . Permit Required? Nope. Other Vehicles? Motorcycles this 500-acre, privately owned property is transformed into an insane off-road festival. With a full staff, a massive insurance policy, and a complete crew of local sheriffs on site for security, the three-day party in the woods manages to push all the limits of acceptable behavior (in our crowd) while staying safe for the fans. The St. Lucie Mud Jam is more than just an off-road enthusiasts playground; it is quickly becoming a paradise for anyone trying to get away and forget city life and enjoy the mud life. St. Mary’s Shoals Park (Glen Saint Mary, Florida) (904-259-9825) St. Mary’s Shoals Park is located on the St. Mary's River giving the public nearly two miles of striking tannin-stained river frontage and its white sandy shoals. The park goers have a variety of resource based recreational opportunities on this 2568 acre site along the Florida-Georgia border. . Permit Required? Climate Type Nope. On the east side of the park, equestrian riders, bikers and hikers have access to trails that meander through scenic forest and skirt black waters of both Cedar Creek and the St. Mary's River. While on the west side of the park, there is an extensive system of trails maintained for all-terrain vehicle usage. Both trail systems are supported with trailhead parking, restrooms and picnic facilities Tates Hell OHV Trail System (Carabelle, Florida) (850-697-3734) This large area offers about 150 miles of dirt roads that wind through a dense swamp and pine flatwoods forest, with wildlife consisting of panthers, bald eagles, gopher tortoise and black bear. . The forest gets its name from a local legend of a farmer named Cebe Tate who back in 1875 got lost for about a week while searching for the panther that was killing his livestock. After emerging from the swamp near the town of Carrabelle he came across some locals and just before dying said "My name is Cebe Tate, and I just came from Hell!" Thomas Landing (Lake Wales, Florida) (863-651-3462) Thomas Landing is old Florida style camping; a family friendly place to camp, ride ATVs, take an air boat ride, and fish. We allow pets, tent camping, RV camping, cabin rentals, air boat tours, stocked pond, boat ramp, bait shop, restaurant and more. Located on the shores of Lake Kissimee, this area offers plenty of room for camping and miles of ATV trails to explore. . Permit Required? Climate Type Nope. Swamp Other Vehicles? UTV/SXS? Wandering Wiregrass OHV Trail (Umatilla, Florida) (352-625-2520) This 17 mile trail loop winds through a longleaf pine forest. The trail mainly consists of sand with a few sections of hard pack but it is smooth and mostly flat. The area is open year-round but the most popular time to visit is during the fall and winter months. The main staging area offers level parking and space for large trailers or RVs but there is no shade and canopies are permitted only in certain areas. . Permit Required? Yes. Other Vehicles?
