Mass Schedule / Horario de Misas
Teaching Moment:
Explain the different types of “Holy Oils”
There are three types of Holy Oils. “The
Oil of Catechumens”, “The Oil of the
Sick”, and “Chrism”. The first two are
blessed and the third is consecrated by
the Bishop at the Mass of Chrism on Holy
Thursday morning in the Cathedral Church.
In our Diocese, the Cathedral Church is
Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral located
in San Bernardino. The Oil of Catechumens
is used at the Easter Vigil Liturgy for adult
converts and also in all Baptismal Liturgies.
The Oil of the Sick is used for the
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
Chrism is used in the Sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, and
other consecrations such as the dedication
of a new Altar.

Second Week of Lent
Hungering for a
Bountiful Earth
This week CRS Rice Bowl takes us to the coffee
highlands of Nicaragua, wherewe’re called to protect both the goodness of creation and the livelihoods of struggling families.
How will this week’s fast remind us of the sacredness of God’s creation and our duty to protect it?

A Note from the Administrator...
Dear Friends,
Queridos Amigos,
The Transition Team and I were pleased with the
number of parish surveys returned, and the time many
of you took to write out detailed thoughtful responses
and suggestions. Last Wednesday we had our parish
“Town Hall” meeting, and careful notes were taken.
You can look forward to some good reports in the
week ahead.
respuestas reflexivas y sugerencias detalladas. El
miércoles pasado tuvimos nuestra reunión del
ayuntamiento parroquial, y notas se tomaron
cuidadosamente. Usted puede esperar algunos
buenos informes en la próxima semana.
You are also due to hear about the results of the
Bishop’s Diocesan Development Fund (DDF) we
took in last month. It’s becoming obvious we didn’t
do as well as last year, and may have to appeal again.
But all the information isn’t in yet --- hopefully we’ll
have that in the next few weeks.
Another item: our parish Electric/Electronic collection. Next Saturday, between 9am and 3 pm, there
will be some large pallets in our parking lot to collect
old phones, tv’s, computers, radios, appliances …
anything that uses a plug (even if it’s just to recharge). These items will be picked up Saturday afternoon for recycle … and our parish will receive
money back for our programs. I hope you will look
around in your garage, closets and drawers.
Otro artículo: Eléctrico/colección de electrónicos de
nuestra parroquia.
Finally, we’re hoping that new parish signage arrives
this week, so people can see clearly which room is
which. We will also be renaming some of our
facilities, for greater accuracy and clarity.
Stay tuned … and I hope you are making a good lent
(and remember, it’s never too late to start!).
Peace, All Good!
Paz, Todos Bueno!
