John C. Schlesinger was a co-terminal English student at Stanford
University, and an accomplished member of the Stanford Cycling
Team. He died in an auto accident in Maine in 1997. Our annual
criterium bears his name in honor of his contributions to the team
and love of the sport of cycling.
Course: Flat, fast crit around Specialized’s headquarters in Morgan
Hill. Direction of racing is counterclockwise around Concord Circle and
Vineyard Blvd (0.5 miles) with the start/finish located on Concord Circle
adjacent to the parking area. Five left hand turns and one right hand
sweeper to make a chicane before the finish. The entire course will be
closed to traffic. Good pavement throughout.
From the north or south take 101 to the
Tennant Avenue exit (exit 365). Take Tennant Ave west for 0.9 miles to
Monterey Rd. Turn left on Monterey Rd and left again onto Vineyard
Blvd. Parking will be on the right in the Specialized headquarters parking
lot. Registration is located in front of Specialized headquarter building
(15130 Concord Circle, Morgan Hill, CA). Please take care of the area
(pick up trash; use the portapotties) so that we may host this race again in
future years. Parking will not be accessible by turning onto Vineyard
directly from Tennant Ave -- use the west entrance to Vineyard Blvd!
