During his coaching career at Nazareth and Brown he produced over 100 All-Americans. Coach Nelson’s 15 year stint at Nazareth included 12 trips to the NCAA Tournament, 5 NCAA Championship appearances, and 3 National Championships (’92, ’96, ’97). Marist College lacrosse coach Scott Nelson and his staff are planning a lacrosse camp that includes extensive individual instruction, along with daily participation in actual games. The goal of the camp is to teach the fundamentals of lacrosse, while ensuring that each player leaves camp with a new appreciation for the game. Beginners are encouraged to attend. No experience is needed. Assistant Director: Keegan Wilkinson Coach Wilkinson is the Assistant Coach and in his fourth year at Marist. Wilkinson works closely with the offense and extra man units. A graduate of Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Wilkinson was a two time captain and was twice named to the MAAC All- Conference Team. Coach Paul Santavicca is in his second year as an Assistant Coach with the Marist Lacrosse program. He joined the Marist coaching staff in 2010 after a successful career as a player with the Redfoxes. As a member of the Marist coaching staff, Santavicca has assisted in all areas of the program, including face off and goalie play. Matt Francis Matt Francis joined the Marist Lacrosse coaching staff this year as a volunteer assistant coach. He recently graduated from Marist College, in the 2010 season he finished in the top 15 in the country in face off percentage. Also, as a junior he finished the season ranked seventh in the country in face off percentage and fifth in ground balls. Camp Staff: Will include Marist College Lacrosse players and alums as well as top coaches and players from some of the best programs in the country. Certified Trainers: Certified athletic trainers will be present at all camp activities. CAMP COST: $250 Includes use of recreational facilities, jersey, instruction, and competition. DISCOUNTS: A $30 discount will be offered to those campers who attend with multiple family members. TRANSPORTATION: DAILY SCHEDULE 9:30-10:00 Stretching and stick drills 10:00-10:40 Positional instruction (goalies will have extra individual preparation) 10:40-10:50 Water Break 10:50-11:30 Game Situations (transitions, etc.) 11:30-12:00 Coaches Corner (helpful hints to improve your game) 12:00-1:00 Lunch 1:00-1:30 Individual Instruction Parents must provide campers with transportation to and from the Day Camp. Early drop off for campers is offered. FACILITIES: 2:00-4:00 League Games Camp will be held at the Gartland Athletic Field, also known as North Field, Gartland provides striking views of the Hudson River while serving as a core practice facility for both Marist intercollegiate and club teams. Also, campers will have access to Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. This brand new state of the art stadium is home to the Marist Lacrosse Team. Please note: Marist will be undergoing several improvement projects during the summer. As a result, access to college facilities and travel throughout campus will be affected.
