FAITH STUDIES SERIES
brings parishioners
closer to Christ
In less than a year since the
introduction of the Faith Studies Series
by the Impact team from Catholic
Christian Outreach (CCO), more than
250 St. Anthony of Padua parishioners
have signed up to participate! Many
will remember our four Impacters—
Jennifer, Arlene, Peter and Rob—
spearheading the studies to introduce
or reintroduce the Catholic faith to
parishioners in a simple but meaningful
way. By sharing in the studies,
participants were challenged to grow in
holiness and eventually become
evangelizers.
“The studies
...reach people
where they are
in their faith
and relationship
with Jesus.”
Father Justin explains: “Faith Studies
introduce people into relationships
with Jesus, help them grow in spiritual
maturity, and help further multiply and
bring others through the process.”
The studies are designed to reach
people where they are in their faith and
relationship with Jesus, which is
particularly helpful because the
sessions attract a wide range of
participants including young adults,
married couples, teens, seniors and
entire families. “It’s amazing to see a
true cross-section of our parish coming
together to learn more about God’s
love for us,” says Fr. Justin.
The Faith Studies are usually
delivered through a series of one hour
sessions over six weeks. There are five
levels, starting with Discovery, and then
progressing in order through Source,
Growth, Obedience, and finally Commission.
According to CCO, the Faith Studies are
not intended to be strict Bible studies
that examine “long passages of
Scripture in their context,” but “look at
particular Scripture passages and other
Church documents as they relate to
certain topics or themes” such as
prayer, love of God, and the Holy
Spirit.
Justin’s leadership and guidance.
The spark ignited by the Impacters
burns brightly in a group of St.
Anthony parishioners who continue as
leaders in the Faith Studies Ministry.
Silvia Almanza Alonso, Maria
Anggowo, Alex Djauhari, Anna Lam,
Nathan Rumohr, Megan Siy, Joann
Vellara and Catherine Kriekenbeek-Lee
are the parishioners who plan, prepare
and deliver the studies under Fr.
The Faith Studies are offered four
times a year at St. Anthony of Padua,
with the next round scheduled to run
from April 12 to May 12. The studies
are held Tuesday evenings at two time
slots: 6:15pm and 8:15pm. Anyone
interested in signing-up can call the
parish office, (604) 266-6131 or email
catherinekl@shaw.ca.
In such a short time, the Faith
Studies have borne much fruit for our
parish, thanks to the Holy Spirit! The
positive response from parishioners
has resulted in the studies often being
filled to capacity.

Stewardship Message
“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent
me, so I send you.’” JOHN 20:21
Peace – the first gift of the risen Lord. Just as Jesus sent the apostles
out into the world to share His peace and Good News, so too, He
sends us. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to be grateful and
generous. We should look for opportunities to share His peace with
our brothers and sisters not only within our local parish boundaries,
but outside of them as well. In giving, you will receive the peace of
Christ.

Year of Mercy Reflection
“The message of merciful love needs to resound forcefully anew.
The world needs this love. The hour has come to bring Christ’s
message to everyone: to rulers and the oppressed, to those whose
humanity and dignity seem lost…The hour has come when the
message of Divine Mercy is able to fill hearts with hope and to
