TAVARES – There’s something new in the Tavares downtown entertainment district. After years
of planning, and long months of construction, the Tavares Pavilion on the Lake is open for
business. Located at the east end of Wooton Park, on Disston Avenue, the venue offers a state
of the art facility serenely “floating” over Lake Dora. Floor to ceiling windows provide a spectacular view through a wall of glass and exquisite furnishings convey the feel of a tropical waterfront oasis. No detail has been overlooked in creating this unique spot for making memories.
The 8,000 square foot, two-story event center is designed to accommodate corporate meetings, special events and weddings.

The 3rd Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival
will be held October 3-5, 2014
Birds flock to Lake County, which is home to thousands of acres of preserves
and passive parklands, including the Lake Apopka Restoration Area, Ferndale
Preserve, Emeralda Marsh and the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area.
The Wings and Wildflowers Festival hopes to make the 2014 experience unforgettable by holding field trips in these birding hotspots and wildflower havens,
as well as bringing some of the nation's best birding, wildflower and nature experts to the area to share their knowledge.
The 3rd Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival will make the most of Lake
County’s enticing outdoor recreational opportunities, particularly for birders.
The Wings and Wildflowers Festival will offer visitors an opportunity to fall in
love with Lake County’s vast array of birds, wildflowers and natural resources.
With Lake County’s reputation as a premier birding location, it’s the goal of this
festival to enhance awareness and appreciation of Lake County’s quality of life and
support environmental initiatives on behalf of citizens and visitors alike.

Spotlight
Spotlight
Twin Medical Consultants is one of
the newest small businesses in the
Leesburg area. It was opened in 2012
by Gary Blakely, a long time Lake
County resident, who saw a need in
the medical industry. He noticed that doctors and their medical
staff were spending more time billing insurance, credentialing
physicians, and fixing technology issues than they were spending time assisting their patients. Therefore, the objective for
Twin Medical Consultants is to get the doctor and their medical
staff back to helping the patients while we take care of the rest.
With over 20 years of experience in the medical field our staff
is ready to assist medical offices with a wide array of services.
Often times a physician’s staff does not have time to follow up
with insurances on medical billing issues and this causes monies
to go uncollected. At Twin Medical Consultants we offer a full
customizable billing service that will help to increase revenue
throughout a medical facility. We also offer physician credentialing services that will allow the doctor to accept more patients
within their practice. Technical support is another key component that we offer to assist in a smooth running medical facility.
We offer monthly and hourly technical services to our clients
with on-site or phone/modem support. Our technical support
doesn’t stop at helping your computer run properly. We also
assist with EHR/EMR software, Meaningful Use, and ICD-10.
We thrive in helping the medical community run more efficient
and effectively.
Our number one objective is to make sure that medical professionals can focus on their patients and we take care of the rest.
Give us a call and “Let Us Put the Pieces Together for You”. We
are conveniently located minutes away from Lake Square Mall
and Lake Sumter State College at 10123 US Hwy 441, Leesburg. We can also be reached at 352.353.0096.
Meet the Artists
of Ford Press
The artists at Ford Press play many roles. They not only design
creative marketing collateral for customers, they also prepare files
for CMYK and spot color printing, and are digital press operators
of the new C8000 digital press. Stop by or set up an appointment
today to meet with one of them to discuss your company marketing strategy.
Beth Gillmore, Design & Prepress Manager has been with
Ford Press for 8 years. “Quality, creativity and fast turn-around
time is what we strive for here at Ford Press. We are the ‘Art of
High Performance Printing’. There is no job too big or too small.”
Beth holds a bachelors degree in Graphic Communications with
a minor in marketing.
Nicki Forde, Graphic Artist has been with Ford Press for 4
years. “Exceeding a customer’s expectations has been my goal
since I became a graphic artist 20 years ago. At Ford Press, it’s
important to be a team-player and do what it takes to get the job
done right and on time.” Nicki has a Communication Arts degree
from International Fine Arts College, Miami.
Kassie Cozart, Graphic Artist, has been with Ford Press for 2
years. Kassie holds an industry certificate for Commercial Art Technology and Digital Design. “Working for Ford Press has been an
awesome experience. Getting to work with and create such creative,
different types of printed media has been an experience at best. I
couldn’t have asked for a better job fresh out of school! Everyone
works as a team here and I love every part of it!”

Residents encouraged to sign up for Smart911
TAVARES – The Lake County Public Safety Department is encouraging residents to sign up for the Smart911 Network, which allows
people to proactively provide crucial information to first responders
before an emergency occurs.
“Safety starts at home,” said Gregory Holcomb, Division Manager/E911 Coordinator. “That is why we are asking Lake County citizens to sign up for this service and to encourage their family members, friends and neighbors to do so as well.”
Lake County’s Smart911 program allows people to create free
safety profiles consisting of household information that could be
vital during an emergency. The profiles can contain contact infor-
6 Tavares Business Journal
mation, residents’ medical conditions, photos of family members
and the home’s floor plans.
Lake County E-911 joined the Smart911 Network in August 2012
to improve emergency services to residents. Smart911 is a national
network, so anytime a citizen dials 911 across the country and the call
is answered by a local Smart911 supported center, their profile will
be available. This could make the dispatcher privy to crucial, possibly
life-saving information.
“The more information provided to the Smart911 Network, the
better,” Holcomb added. “An emergency is a chaotic time for all parties involved, so planning ahead by providing vital information to
dispatchers can greatly help
our first responders be better
prepared when they arrive to
a scene.”
Those interested in creating a safety profile can do so
by visiting www.smart911.
com. Each profile is private
and only available to dispatchers during an emergency call.
For more information
about Smart911, call the
Lake County Public Safety Department at 352253-1818 or visit www.
