Premier Boat Tours will yet again be touring the Dora
Canal as part of the Annual Wings & Wildflowers Festival. Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to sign up for narrated tours of the
Dora Canal and Dead River, aboard our luxury all-weather
pontoon boat which provides a relaxing and comfortable ride, and
a great platform for bird viewing and photography. The tours on
Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 will all depart from
Wooton Park, Tavares.
On Saturday, October 5, tours will all be 2-hours in
length. These narrated Eco-tours will travel through the unspoilt
Dora Canal, past towering 2,000 year old cypress trees dripping
with Spanish moss. They continue across Lake Eustis and down
the Dead River, a more open passageway joining our lakes.
Commonly seen on the tour are anhingas, egrets, bald eagles,
osprey, ibis, herons, turtles and alligators. Less common sightings
include limpkin, green back herons, black crested night herons,
prothonotary warblers and purple gallinule. The first tour will depart
at sunrise and the last tour will return after the sun sets.
On Sunday 6th October in the morning, 1-hour narrated
Eco-tours will explore the unspoiled Dora Canal through towering
2,000 year old cypress trees dripping with Spanish moss in search
of anhingas, egrets, ibis, herons, turtles and alligators.

Richard S. had to arise early every morning to take care
of his sneezing fits before he could go to work. Sometimes it would
be an hour of misery, and he began the day exhausted. Then a
friend told Richard about Fresh Air Surround by Vollara. He placed
a unit in his bedroom and, the next morning, no sneezing fit! And
the next day, and the next, Richard enjoyed getting up to clean air
and no congestion.
This is just one testimony among thousands from people
who have found blessed relief from respiratory distress using
nothing more than the Fresh Air Surround air purification system.
Quality Indoor Environmental Solutions can help you
prove this for yourself. Our combination UVX and ionization

Central Florida Health Alliance Honored on the 2013 List of Best Employers for
Workers Over 50
Leesburg – Central Florida Health Alliance (CFHA), the parent organization of Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The
Villages Regional Hospital is being honored by AARP and the Society for Human Resource Management as one of the 2013 Best
Employers for Workers Over 50, joining a diverse group of health systems, corporations, government agencies, and non-profits on the list
announced yesterday.
“As the Baby Boom generation nears retirement, employers are seeing the value in retaining critical business knowledge and
experience,” said Doug Heinlen, AARP Florida’s volunteer state president. “The employers being honored recognize that recruiting and
retaining 50-plus workers is a smart strategy to improve the business’s bottom line.” CFHA offers its employees numerous health and
wellness benefits. Employees and dependents covered under the organizations health care plan use its Urgent Care Center(s) for sick
visits free of charge. Many employees also receive the following benefits: educational classes on health and nutrition, a full lab panel,
health biometrics screening, case management, and a tobacco cessation program. An on-site Wellness Center with subsidized low cost
membership is available on their Leesburg campus and employees participating in the Wellness Program receive a discount on their health
insurance premiums.
“We have made a steadfast commitment to creating a family-centered environment where people can come to work every day
knowing they will be treated with respect, integrity and fairness,” said Amie Richason, Vice President of Human Resources. “It’s an honor to
have many workers over 50 who have spent their careers with us, as well as others who have chosen to join us midcareer. The dedication
and experience of all of our team members is vital to our mission of providing the best health care for our
patients.”
Central Florida Health Alliance President and CEO, Don Henderson, sums it up best:
“We embrace the experience and knowledge our over age 50 team members bring to our organization while caring for our
patients. We consider them one of the secrets to our success.”

Rifles, Rails & History: Steam Back to the North and South
On September 27-29, 2013, an exciting new annual event, “Rifles, Rails & History: Steam Back to the North and
South” will take place at Wooton Park on the shores of beautiful Lake Dora in Tavares. This Living History Encampment will
transport visitors and guests of “America’s Seaplane City” back 150 years to that extraordinary period of time in American
history.
One of the unique aspects of the event is that it will not be held in a distant battlefield, but right in the heart of
downtown Tavares, a city committed to honoring its heritage and building upon its rich history.
One of the “star” attractions during the three-day “Rifles, Rails & History” event will be the Orange Blossom
Cannonball "movie train" featured in the Civil War-themed miniseries “North and South” and “The Blue and the Gray.” Visitors
and guests will have an opportunity to be part of movie history riding aboard the coaches where famous TV and movie stars
filmed, powered by the 1907 steam locomotive #2. The train will be carrying “Yankee gold” with Confederate raiders in hot
pursuit!
The schedule of activities will include a
spectacular re-enactors parade down Main Street, the
distinctive sights and sounds of artillery, cavalry,
infantry, and navy demonstrations, 19th Century settlers
and merchants, a charming ladies tea and fashion
show, an historic “Blue & Gray” walking tour through
Tavares, a Friday night “rails and cocktails” party on
board the Orange Blossom Cannonball, a formal
Saturday night cotillion, and many exhibitors to enhance
your journey back to the North and South of the 1860s.
One of the featured exhibits comes from KirbySmith Camp 1209 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans,
based in Jacksonville, who will make the voyage to
Tavares to showcase their replica of the H. L. Hunley, a
Confederate submarine that mysteriously disappeared,
with all hands, shortly after sending the USS Housatonic
to the bottom of Charleston Harbor on February 17,
1864.
Special guests will include Gen. Robert E. Lee portrayer, Mr. Al Stone, who portrayed General Lee in the History
Channel’s documentary April 1865 and has portrayed General Lee at Stratford Hall, Lee’s birthplace in Virginia, for several
years.
“Rifles, Rails & History” is where you should “…expect to hear of crowning deeds of valor and of victories gloriously
achieved!” – Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. For more information visit: www.riflesrailsandhistory.com
