Money Savings Challenge
If you’ve resolved to save more money in 2016, we can help! Blackhawk is
issuing a 52-Week Savings Challenge that not only helps you tuck money
aside every week, but also gives you a chance to double your money at
the end of the Challenge! It’s easy and fun – read on for more details.

How Does the Challenge Work?
The idea is simple: Open a Challenge Savings Account and deposit $1 on
week one of 2016, followed by $2 on week two, $3 on week three, etc.,
until you reach week 52, when you make your last deposit of $52. Your
final balance at the end of the year is $1,378.

Just sign up to have automatic transfers made to the account by completing
an enrollment card. As long as funds are in the transfer account, your
transfers will occur before noon on Fridays. Deposits can also be made in
person at a branch, or you can do a transfer by phone or online.
What Interest Rate Does It Have?
To help encourage and reward savers throughout the year, the
interest rate is 3.00% APY.* But to get that great rate, you have to keep
participating according to the Challenge; the interest rate is tiered
to only pay 3.00% on the amount of the scheduled balance for the
corresponding week.
How Could I Double My Money?
At the end of the Challenge, one lucky saver will double their money with
a matching deposit from Blackhawk. Your name will automatically be
entered in the sweepstakes with each deposit you make.

What is EMV?
Blackhawk accounts are monitored for fraud 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. The microchip enhances this
process by providing dynamic data at the time of use that
cannot be known by someone who steals your card or
your card number. Additionally, a microchip is much more
difficult to replicate or counterfeit than the old cards with
just a magnetic strip.
Do I Need to Do Anything?
Your new EMV card has a new expiration date, so if you
have automatic payments set up with your card, you will
need to give the merchants your new expiration date.
How Do I Use My New Card?
While EMV cards are widely accepted throughout Europe,
many merchants across the United States are still working
to update their payment terminals to process EMV
microchip transactions.
First, swipe your card. If the merchant isn’t EMV-ready,
the transaction will be processed using the magnetic strip
on your card. If the merchant is EMV-ready, you will be
prompted to insert your card into the terminal. Your card
will be kept safely inside the terminal while the microchip is
authenticated and the transaction is completed.
Second, remember your PIN. Terminals may use different
formats (either your PIN or your signature) to authenticate you
as the cardholder. Third, remove your card. Some terminals
may remind you to take your card, but some may not.
If you have any questions, we’re happy to help at
608-755-6065 or 800-779-5555.
