Bericht des Präsidenten
Mutter Natur hat
uns endlich das
Sommerwetter
gebracht und dies
sollten wir geniessen, solange
es moeglich ist.
Ein grosses Dankeschoen an Matt
Schuster und Karl
Braun, die uns
wieder eine Blumenpracht
im
Garten gezaubert

There is not much to comment on at this
time as this report needed to be written earlier than normal due to our trip to Germany
with the choir. I wish everyone a safe and
happy summer and hope to see many of you
at some of the events that we will have this
summer.
Let’s support each other and enjoy the company of our fellow club members at some of
the following events:

President’s Report
Mother Nature has finally graced us with
the summer weather that we have been
longing for and we need to enjoy every
minute of it that she provides. A big thank
you goes out to Matt Schuster and Karl
Braun for taking the time to plant the flowers that make our garden an eye catching
display every year. The custodial staff along
with the help of Karl and Alfred Kuers are
also responsible for the continued maintenance of the outdoor areas. Their hard work
is noticed and commented on by the customers that frequent our club.
Janice and I would like to thank the Treffpunkt for the invitation to join them at
Fruehlingsfest on May 14/16. This event
helps welcome the spring/summer and is a
function that has a different style compared
to our regular club events. It was great to see
all the people that frequent so many of the
events but we need to see more of our members at the various events to continue the
longevity of what we have to offer here at
the Concordia Club.
Enjoy your vacation time this summer with
your family and friends because before you
know it we will see the big tent arrive and
start to be constructed and we all know
what that means …..yes, summer is over.
Your president,
Rob Kerr

From the Manager’s Desk
I want to thank everyone
who came out to our “indoor” patio opening party.
Unfortunately
Mother
Nature didn’t cooperate
this year, so we moved the
party into the Schenke. Not exactly the
same as being outside under the sunshine
and smelling Andreas’ BBQ in action but it
was still a fun evening!
Cruise Night & Live Entertainment on the
Patio
Our first Cruise Night was a great success.
We had approximately 40 old cars proudly
displayed in our parking lot. Everyone
enjoyed exploring the great selection of
vehicles. The evening continued with Dave
and Dean providing some great music on
the patio after the show. Come out for our
next Cruise Night on July 22nd starting at
6:00p.m. and then join us on the patio to
hear a very popular, local musician, Sandy
McDonald! Looking forward to seeing you
then.
Annual Patio Pig Roast
Our 3rd annual pig roast is fast approaching! It will be held on Tuesday, July 19th
starting at 5:00p.m.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate and
we can enjoy a great evening on the patio
listening to live entertainment, beer sampling and a great meal. Mark your calendar
and hope to see you there.
Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is fast approaching and we are
well on our way in the preparations for it.
5
Ticket sales have been very good so far.
With the addition of a matinee on the
Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend we hope
to attract guests visiting the K-W area to
experience Oktoberfest “Concordia Style”!
Employment applications will be available
starting July 2nd in the office.
Only 116 days to the first Friday as I am
writing this report which doesn’t seem too
far away when you put it into days with so
much to accomplish!
I wish everyone a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Ruth Rajna

Concordia Chöre
I hope you’re enjoying your summer, and
can find some time to relax! It is 11am, and
I want to sit outside, relax, with a nice cold
drink in hand! You know what they say…
It’s 5 O’clock somewhere … like in
Germany!! Speaking of Germany, the Concordia Choirs were in Germany (and
Amsterdam) in May/June, for a 16 day tour,
which included three concerts. It was an
exciting trip … ask President Rob Kerr, he
was there! You will hear more about this
trip in the next bulletin, so…stay tuned!
On Saturday, August 13th we invite you to
come on out to the Concordia Farm, and
join us for our annual Picnic, with our
famous chicken dinner, silent auction, and
games for kids. Rain or shine, this promises
to be a fun event for all ages! The picnic will
start at 1pm. Come early, have a drink, go
for a swim, enjoy a funnel cake and coffee in
the afternoon, check out the silent auction.
Kids, come play some games. Every child
gets a prize! Note: If you have any used
items in excellent condition, new items, or
gift certificates you wish to donate, please
bring them along on Monday, August 8th.
Fred will be at the Club from 5:30pm until
after practice, around 9pm, to receive items.
Thanks for your support
Our first Choir practice after summer break
is Monday, August 8th. If you enjoy singing
and would like to join us, what better time
than now?!? Please come on out. Mixed
Choir rehearses Mondays 7:15pm – 8:30pm.
Male Choir rehearses 8:30pm – 10pm, and
the Children and Youth Choirs rehearse
6:30pm – 7:30pm. If you have any questions, or would like more information,
please contact Ulrike Ryzebol at 519-8880512. If you do not know German, that’s ok!
Not all of us do! We’re a fun bunch, and
would love to welcome some new members!
Save the date! Winzerfest is on Saturday,
September 17th. We will have three guest
choirs this year, so you won’t want to miss
this fun evening of song and dance! We will
also crown a new “Weinkönigin”. How
exciting! More information will be in the
next bulletin.
I know this seems way too early, but
Oktoberfest is creeping up on us, which
means, we will be looking for the help of all
choir members, family and friends, to help
volunteer in one of two choir booths. This is
a big fundraiser for us, and we need everyone’s help! Thanks in advance!
Dates to Remember:

Saturday August 13th – Choir Picnic

Tischtennis Gruppe
Liebe Tischtennis Freunde,
Von unserem Spielbetrieb gibt es zurzeit
nicht viel zu berichten. Obwohl wir auch in
diesem Jahr kein Tournament durchführen,
sind die Trainingsabende dennoch gut
besucht. Weiter so, denn der Sommer mit
den Urlaubszeiten ist in Sichtweite.
Ich hatte in meinem letzten Bericht unser
jährliches TT-Golfturnier in Brookfield
TABLE TENNIS GROUP
Despite of not having a tournament this year
many group members are showing up for
practice on our weekly training sessions.
Keep it up. The summer with the holiday
season lies ahead of us.
In the meantime all interested golfers realized that the announced TT-Golf tournament at Brookfield Golf Club did not mate-
15
rialize this year. Due to organizational problems with the new Brookfield management,
Hans Malthaner was not able to reach an
agreement despite his attempts to keep this
tradition alive. Many thanks go to Hans for
his effort and time.
Our Club executive / management presented a Waiver for on-site physical activity and
designated group activities at the Club and
its facilities. A lack of understanding prevails about the reason and extent of the proposed restrictions. For many members the
contents of paragraph 1 and 2, with the
request of refraining from participating in
such activities in case of a possible pre-condition, constitutes the limitation to our present membership rights according to our Bylaw. What was wrong with the practiced
common sense of our members in the past?
And what is the purpose of section 5, to
waive all rights of any and all claims for
invasion of privacy, right of publicity or
even defamation?
Before signing this waiver an explanation
and clarification to the content of the paragraphs should be given by the Board of
Directors and would be greatly appreciated
by many members, not only from the table
tennis group.
Tschuess and until next time,
Eckhard Michalski
Board Response to Table Tennis Report:
The activity waiver was mentioned during
the extended board meeting in March and
May based on the recommendation of our
insurance provider and legal advisors for
the well being of the club. Should you have
any questions they will be addressed at the
next extended board meeting July 14th.
