Spring 2013
Bring Your Faith Alive at Kinasao this summer!
Let all that you do be done in love.
1 Corinthians 16:14
This summer at Kinasao we will be
exploring 5 essential ways to keep
our faith alive and growing in our
everyday lives.
Studying the Bible
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
God’s Word is vital to growing in faith. The Bible offers us
answers to our questions and provides encouragement and
knowledge about who God is. Hiding God’s word in our
heart will be our focus throughout the week!
Worship
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
So many things vie for our attention every day. How do we
stop and take time to worship God? Campers will explore
different forms of worship, and what it really means to put
all of our focus on the greatness of God.
Prayer
In everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
God wants to talk to us all of the time! Jesus spent much
time in prayer, and tells us to do the same. We’ll look at the
Lord’s Prayer and learn about how we can keep an ongoing
conversation with God throughout our day.
Service
Let us love one another, for love comes from God.
1 John 4:7
When we love God, that love pours out of us
in service to others. God calls us to serve those
around us. We’ll explore different ways to serve our
neighbors wherever we are.
Hospitality
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
1 Peter 4:9
How do we be hospitable to the people we don’t really
like? What if they aren’t very nice to us? Campers
will learn different ways to show God’s love to others
through the discipline of hospitality.
We need your help!
We believe getting the Bible into the hands of every child
is very important. This summer we are partnering with
the Canadian Bible Society to give each camper a Bible
to keep for themselves or give away to a friend. We are
looking for financial sponsors to cover the $2000 cost
of this project. If you’re interested in helping out in this
way, please contact kristi@kinasao.ca

different projects that need extra
hands; sewing for crafts, gardening,
maintenance repairs, kitchen
work, construction projects,
cleaning and organizing! Kinasao
volunteers are asked to help 4
hours a day in exchange for food
& accommodations. Visit www.
kinasao.ca for an application form
if you are interested in helping out

Kinasao and what God is doing in our lives. I hope you will
join me in making memories at Camp Kinasao this summer!

Camp is NOT just for Kids!
Prime Time Camp
June 23-26, 2013
At a recent meeting we asked the question
“What are some of the strengths of
Kinasao?” and one of the first things to be
listed was Prime Time Camp! Camp here
at Kinasao is a wonderful, meaningful,
fun and impactful time for people of all
ages. And Prime Time Camp is designed
specifically with our adult and senior
campers in mind. With
time to delve into God’s
Word through studies and
devotions, time to relax
and be quiet, time to
play, with bocci ball and
horse shoe tournaments
and pontoon boat rides,
with great food and lots
of time to fellowship with
new and old friends, there
really is something for
everyone.
Nightly concerts and an old time Hymn
Sing, a prayer walk, opportunities for
small group discussions and a campfire,
this really is a week like no other you will
have this summer! Book early to reserve a
room in the retreat centre or a cabin, or
bring your RV and camp in our beautiful
campground.
This year we are excited to have Rev. Brian
Smith and Rev. Ron Bestvater leading our
study times and Laverne and Rene Baxter
leading daily devotions. We will be
sharing around the theme of “Love and
Support During Times of Loss”. Thank
you to all of the committee members who
have planned this week just for you!
Support your camp!
Our 19th Annual Tour-de-Kinasao
is happening soon!
June 7-9, 2013 is a weekend to support
the ministry of Kinasao through our
annual walk-run-bike-a-thon. There is a
role for each person involved in Kinasao
to play, so be sure to be a part of it!
With participants from throughout the
province and supporters from far and
wide, this event is the major fund raiser
for our camp and we are so thankful for
everyone who has been involved for so
many years! The Walk-Run-Bike will take
4
place on June 8 and you can choose to
walk or run 5 or 10 km, do the Kid’s Bike
of 10 km or complete the half bike of 60
km or the full event of 120 km. Make
it a weekend with a dessert reception on
Friday evening and church and a BBQ on
Sunday.
We would love to exceed our record of
having 98 people participate and volunteer
for the weekend and break the record of
raising over $32,800. And you can help!
Collect your pledges and come and walk,
run, bike or volunteer, and BE SURE
TO SPONSOR A PARTICIPANT! Find
out if anyone from your congregation
is entering the event and pledge your
support! Or call the office and pledge
your support for one of our staff members
who will be participating in each of the
various events. For more information
or to register and get your pledge sheets,
please call or email the camp office or
visit our website. Let’s make this year a
Tour-de-Kinasao like no other!

Experience God's Creation up Close
family or friends that will draw you closer to each other and
closer to our God in a very special way and will be a part of you
for a very long time. Whether you are new to canoe tripping or
an experienced outdoorsman, you are welcome to come along.
And whether you come alone or bring the whole family, the trip
will be unforgettable.
There is nothing like breathing in the crisp morning air and
listening to the birds above while gliding along the water
in a canoe. Catching fish and cooking over the fire bonds
participants together. Sharing under the stars and being one
with creation opens us to God’s spirit like nothing else. A
Kinasao Canoe Trip is one of those memorable times spent with
There are two Kinasao Canoe Trip choices this year. The Grey
Owl’s Cabin trip will take place from July 19-23 and will enjoy
the route around and across Kingsmere Lake in Prince Albert
National Park with a hike into the historic Grey Owl’s Cabin
and will be led by Matt and Nancy Johnson. The second trip
will take place July 26-29 to Otter Lake, and will be led by Ron
Schlamp. Canoes, paddles, life jackets, safety equipment, food,
cooking supplies and staff are all supplied by Kinasao. You will
need to bring along all personal items, a tent and sleeping bag.
To register, please visit our website at www.kinasao.ca. As the
number of participants for each trip is very limited, be sure to
register right away!
Family Wilderness Weekend
It’s an adventure designed just for you and your family! Experience a weekend without
technology, without electricity and without the stresses of daily life, but with so much
more! Sleeping in a teepee, cooking over a fire, singing under the stars, exploring the
forest and relaxing with your kids – there is nothing better! This Family Weekend will
be a relaxed time of fun and bonding, a time to be intentional with your own family
and to fellowship with other families. The Family Wilderness Weekend will take place
at our teepee site, just a 15 minute walk from the camp. Food, cooking equipment and accommodations are provided by Kinasao.
You will need to bring all personal items, sleeping bags and a sleeping mat. If you prefer, you can bring along your own tent to sleep
in. This weekend will be led by Rev. Jason Johnson. Register soon as this is a weekend you won’t want to miss!
Kinasao receives a Federal Enabling Accessibility Grant!
We are very excited and blessed to be the recipients of a grant to help us improve
the accessibility of our camp property and buildings through the EAF federal
grant program. Kinasao will receive $50,000 toward a $106,000 project which
will include completing the installation of sidewalks to all of our cabins, adding
and replacing ramps on cabins and bath houses, and adding a new entrance,
exterior ramps and a wheelchair accessible washroom to our Retreat Centre.
These projects will make all of our facilities wheelchair accessible in all seasons
and will greatly assist those who have mobility challenges to feel comfortable
and welcome at our camp. The work on this undertaking will begin this spring and be completed by March of 2014.
As a recipient of the EAF grant, Kinasao needs to contribute the balance of the project costs through donations, fund raising or gifts
in kind. We are so pleased to have already been given a donation of $15,000 worth of construction materials from Cindercrete
Ltd. and are looking for more supporters who will take this project to heart and donate their time to come and volunteer, donate
materials or expertise, or make financial donations for the balance to make this project a reality this year! To donate or volunteer,
please contact the camp office.
