One of these shows was exceptional to say the least. The Mountain City Corvette Association’s Annual Show and Drag at Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip. We had a fantastic time and brought home 19 awards and now have two 2013 Drag Racing Champions! Alice Seiter is the 2013 Powder Puff Drag Racing Champion and Joe Rath is the 2013 Open Drag Racing Champion. Congrats to both of you on a job VERY well done. Other RCCC winners at this show included Ron & Carol Kellogg: Best In Show and Best Vanity Plate, Larry & Norma Harless: 1st in Class and Best Engine, Jerry and Judy Davis: 3rd in Class, Denton Henderson: 3rd in Class, Terry Phillips: 1st in Class, Ron Hasting: 1st in Class, Bob, Emily, Alice and Thomas Seiter: 1st in Class, 2- 2nd in Class Trophies and 3rd in Robin Peterson Class: Alice Seiter: 2nd in Open Drag Racing, Sammy (Alice's friend): 2nd in Powder Puff Drag Racing, Tim and Jean Nutz: 1st and 2nd in Class, and RCCC won Best Club Participation with 13 cars in attendance. Our 1st Annual Fall "Show Your Ride" at Integrity Chevrolet is September 21st. Volunteers are needed for Registration, 50/50 Ticket Sales, Parking Cars and Judging. If you would like to run for Office or nominate someone who has agreed to run for Office, please contact Ron Kellogg, Ron Hasting, Anna Lane or Kima Wilcott. We have a fun calendar of events planned this Fall that includes "Homecoming" at the area High Schools, the UTC Homecoming, our annual Club Picnic, the Fall Fling to Maggie Valley and much more. I look forward to seeing everyone at our regular Monthly Meeting September 19th at O'Charley's in Hixson, 6:00 order dinner and social hour, 7:00 meeting. Robin Peterson, President River City Corvette Club 4 Cherokee Memorial Park Car Show Carol & Ron Kellogg, Al Cerasi, Mark & Robin Peterson with grandson Liam, Jerry & Judy Davis, Gene Talley and Marsha & Dennis Doebler made the trek up to the Cherokee memorial Park to the car show hosted by Southeast Street Toys Car Club. Map of the Trail of Tears at the Cherokee Memorial Park. RCCC will soon be rolling up the welcome mats on the car show season. After settling in and listening to the soft music of a summer breeze playing through the mystic limbs of the weeping willow it could put a baby to sleep. Ahh the solitude of a summer afternoon. After a very enjoyable ride up and a tour of the memorial it was a very successful day for RCCC. Bringing home the hardware. 5 Chattanooga Market’s Annual Cruise In Even the highly overcast skies could not deter nine brave RCCC Vettes from making the trip to the annual Chattanooga Market’s Annual Cruise In. Well perhaps stopping for breakfast at the City Café did play a small role in it. Just sayin … We did have one celebrity created before we left. Anna Lane was interviewed by news channel 9. What a great job she did representing RCCC. Very articulate and to the point. Great job Anna!! Even though you did not mention the Ole Colonels name one single time. Just sayin … At 8:15 we met at the Northgate Library and headed to the Cruise In. At 8:18 the clouds opened up and the rain began. We proved Corvettes will not melt when exposed to rain. Another great time kicking back and just chillin’ at the cruise in. After a small healthy breakfast at the City Café we headed off to the Cruise In about 8 blocks away. With reserved parking we pulled into the pavilion area. The reserved parking was because we were the only ones there. We did have one celebrity created before we left. Anna Lane was interviewed by news channel 9. What a great job she did representing RCCC. Very articulate and to the point. Great job Anna!! Even though you did not mention the Ole Colonel’s name one single time. Just sayin … 6 Knights of Columbus Labor Day Car Show and BBQ The Knights of Columbus annual Labor Day BBQ and car show was held Monday Sept 2nd for the 71st time. The event raised money for the Children’s Cancer Dept. at Erlanger. What a great turnout. They served up BBQ beef, pork and chicken with all the fixin’s for a very reasonable price. They also had a variety of games for children and grown ups alike. It was truly a family event. I saw several folks that I had not seen in years and had an opportunity to chat a bit about back in the day. RCCC members displaying their hard earned awards. Norma and Marsha like the pig races. Alice Seiter and her friend Sammy DeRogtis displaying the Peoples Choice Award for Bob’s C4. The cake walk was also a hit. These folks really put a lot of effort into their event and it showed. Representing RCCC were Marsha & Dennis Doebler, Norma & Larry Harless, the Seiter family with Bob his daughter Alice Seiter, Sammy DeRogtis (a family friend), Bob’s son Thomas Seiter, and Charlie & Ginger Seiter. All RCCC participants took top 25 awards and in addition Bob's C4 also took peoples choice and RCCC won the club participation trophy. This was Charlies and Ginger's first award. But the biggest winner of all was the Children's Oncology Dept at Erlanger. Marsha Doebler and Norma Harless accepting the RCCC car club trophy. 7 Hixson Flight Museum Car Show The Hixson Flight Museum held their annual fund raiser and RCCC was proud to attend. Nothing like things that fly, such as Planes and Corvettes. It was great fun checking out all the airplanes and watching the fly overs. We even got an opportunity to run the Corvettes down the run way and back. Only one word to describe that and that word is AWESOME!!! But the stories that were derived from this little adventure have grown by immense proportions. Of course my version is the factual one. This plane was on the first carrier that picked up the NASA astronauts. A lot of history here and some nice airplanes at the museum. This was another unique fund raiser. A lot of fun also. 8 Mountain City Corvette Association’s All Corvette Car Show and Drag Races One car show that RCCC always look forwarding to attending is the Mountain City Corvette Association’s all Corvette Car Show and Drag Races. The weather was a perfect fall day with blue skies and mild temperatures. Who could have ask for better weather. What a great day of fun both in showing the cars and especially watching the drag races Great job Mountain City Corvette Association. Once again RCCC members brought home the hardware and the club received the Club Participation trophy and Ron & Carol Kellogg took best of show with their 2013 Red Grand Sport Corvette. Today’s drag races had a very unique touch. Two young ladies representing RCCC were challenged. Alice Seiter and her friend Sammy DeRogtis accepted the challenge. What a great job they did. Great job girls!! Two familiar faces to River City Corvette Club were also at the show. Ronnie and Connie Steele brought their Vette up for the show and took first place in their division. It was great to see these two again. Ronnie was a past RCCC Vice President. Good job as usual Ronnie and Connie.
