You can never out give God!
Living is giving! This is the first principle for giving. We
live life best as we give our strengths, gift, and competencies in the
service of God’s mission. We are called to serve, not survive. Our
giving makes a difference in our families, our work, our community, our world, and our church.
I’m thankful to have been raised in El Dorado! I remember how my mom and dad made sure that Richard, Donna and I
were in our pew every Sunday at Vantreaese Memorial Methodist
Church.
I remember how my dad and mom supported the church
faithfully with their giving. They always had the spirit of generosity. They believed you could never out give God. My dad and mom
were major financial supporters when the church voted to build a
new church on the Magnolia highway. Joanie’s parents faithfully
supported the church in their prayers, presence, gifts, service and
witness as well. You would have loved her parents. They were
dedicated to Christ!
Joanie and I have been tithers basically all of our lives. It
was always something that came naturally. Two years ago we
made a four year pledge to give substantially above the tithe to God
through FUMC as we planted our seeds of faith to build our New
Christian Life Center.
I want to say thank you to the 70 families who made a
pledge and are working at completing their pledge to God through
the new Christian Life Center. If you did not make a pledge I encourage you to do so. All you have to do is pick up one of the
Pledge Promise Cards in the Narthex and fill it out and put in in the
offering plate or call Wanda in the church office and tell her how
much you would like to pledge.
If you made a pledge and do not remember how much it is,
simply give Wanda a call. We want to have our church completely
our of debt by April 2019. In order to do this we need more people
to give. I encourage you to pray about it and see what God would
have you do!
You can never out give God!
Blessings,
