Some of our children enjoy spending time in the nursery classroom after church. We see no problem with this; however, we would appreciate it if you, as parents of these children, would make sure that all of the toys and books are picked up and put away after its usage. This will be very helpful for those who clean. Thanks for your cooperation. August 5, 2012 W e have all seen athletes and teams who have competed half-heartedly. They failed to give it their all. It’s so disappointing to witness a ball player who has the talent, knowledge, and experience to win, but he’s just “not in the game.” I can remember running track in high school, and we had a member of our relay team who could outrun anyone on the team. However, he lacked heart— the desire to compete. If our team ever fell behind, he would virtually give up. I can recall one of our last races as we were competing for district finals; this young man literally walked across the finish line because we were getting beat. No doubt, one of the reasons we lost was due to half-heartedness. How many times have you and I worshipped God without putting our whole heart into it? We just mouthed the words. Our thoughts were running wild during the prayers. We couldn’t remember one single point from the preacher’s sermon. It was to this attitude that Jesus spoke in Matthew 15:8 when He said, “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me.” Haven’t we all been there? David encourages me in Psalm 9:1 when he says, “I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Thy wonders.” Remember that God wants whole-hearted Christians! Jesus said it this way, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30, emphasis mine). This week when you are worshipping or just —continued on page 3 Our summer series is will continue this Wednesday night, August 8, at 7:00 p.m.. Minor We would like to welcome to our congregation sister Kaye Black, who has expressed the desire to work and worship with us. She lives in Okarche. Her information will be included in next week’s bulletin, and a page in the directory will be forthcoming. Let’s make every effort to help her feel welcome in our family. We congratulate Tyler and Ciara Davis, proud parents of Addyson Mae Davis, born July 18 and weighing 7 lbs. She is the great granddaughter of Donna Thomas and the great-greatgranddaughter of Dawn Pappe. This is the first Sunday of the month, and we will be eating together tonight following worship services. We will meet at Taco Bell/KFC as soon as you can get there. This is always an enjoyable time of fellowship and fun for the whole family. Please plan to join us.
