Sara Lund Parish Council Notes from July 2016 Parish Council has been enjoying the summer without meetings and is not scheduled to meet again until September 2016 – the exact date is yet to be determined. I anticipate this next meeting will be spent discussing future plans for all four churches of the Parish. We will work on an exit strategy to close out 2016 and discuss how to handle parish business into 2017 as we see the departure of J.M. Paine, Carlton and First Presbyterian, Wrenshall. Individual churches have been meeting to formulate plans for moving forward and those ideas have not been shared with Parish Council as of this writing. We have included the picnic menu within this newsletter – please take a moment to check it out and don’t forget to reserve your place for this annual event being held at Historic Scott House. Your church has sign-up sheets to make reservations and payments ($9 per person). Remember to check the items on our parish’s mission calendar for any projects you may be interested in attending or supporting. Laurie Audette will keep this calendar updated as long as you share information with her! The first raffle item is a fishermen’s hand-knit afghan by Fay Olson. It is full sized, off-white in color and has a long double knot fringe. Our second raffle item is a multi-color cross stitched Strawberry quilt, white, double bed sized, made in the 1970’s by Jim Sheetz’ sister, Kathryn Sheetz Nisula, and hand quilted by Jim Sheetz’ grandmother Rowena Sheetz . The quilt was given to us by Jim Sheetz. The raffle tickets are $1.00 each or six (6) for $5.00 and available from any church member or friend. The drawing for the two items will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 before worship service. Each item, the afghan and the quilt, will be separate items, in other words one ticket one item. Each winner will be notified by e-mail, phone or mail and arrangements made to deliver it to the winner. The raffle items will be displayed on a float that will be in the Labor Day parade. We are in need of a small trailer and willing hands to help decorate. The parade is Monday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. Please be in touch with any of the Stitching BEE members if you are interested in working on the float. Thank you to those who helped out by bringing in items for the Rummage Sale. So far the tally is hovering just over 350.00 and we do intend to advertise a couple of high value items online. A special thank you to Helen, Teddy, the 3 Marge's, Dan H. Margaret and Will. Many hands make light work. Parish News—Westminster The Hartley Family from Arkadelphia, AR…..
