What is Community Solar?
A South Central
Electric Community Solar project allows members to
purchase a portion of the electric generation from a
centrally located photovoltaic system.
How does it work?
FROM YOUR MEMBER OWNED
ELECTRIC SERVICE PROVIDER
SINCE 1937.
Members get either a kWh
credit on their monthly bill or pay $.14/kWh based on
their portion of the total system production. What you get
depends on which option you select below. Members do
not own panels. Limit 10 panels per member.
South Central Electric Community
Solar, the worry-free solar option!
✷No Maintenance.
✷Two Convenient Options.
✷Nothing installed at your home.
✷From your member owned
electric cooperative.
Participation Option A: Purchase per Panel
Members pay $1,175 per panel (members do not actually own the panels). Participating members get a percentage
of the total solar array production each month based on how
many panel units they purchased. A kWh credit would appear
each month on their bill for a period of 20 years. It is estimated
that each panel will produce approximately 500 kWh’s per year.
Members can transfer their contract to any South Central Electric member if they move before the 20 years is up.
Prepay for Future Electric Purchases!
Participation Option B: Purchase per kWh
Members pay $.14/kWh each month for their portion of
the array’s production. There is no down payment or contract.
The price does not change. Members would be locking in
a portion of their electric purchases at a price of $.14/kWh
until the program ends on December 31, 2037. Members can
leave the program at any time but cannot transfer the rate to
other members.
No Money Down! No Contract!
Fixed kWh Rate until 12/31/2037

Are you looking for great TV service at a low cost?
Check out Cooperative Television of Southern Minnesota (CTV) for $7 per month.
CTV continues to offer more digital channels. CTV brings you all your favorite local channels like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and PBS. In the future we are
hoping to bring even more local programming. Where else can you get this
great line-up for only $7 per month? The $7 can be added directly to your
electric bill, so you won’t have one more bill to pay!
CTV is a great low cost option for our members. If you already have a working antenna system installed you’re ready to go. If not, an antenna system will
cost around $350 - $450 to get set up. This includes an antenna, preamp,

the first and third Saturdays of the month from 8am to noon.
• Marin County
Recycle bulbs on October 3 at the northeast corner of the
former K-Mart parking lot in Fairmont from 9am to 1pm.
Bulbs are accepted from homes and businesses in the county.
It costs $.50 for 4 foot and under fluorescents and $.90 for
longer lamps. You can call the Fairmont Area Chamber of
Commerce at 507-235-5547 for more information.
Matt’s Welcome Hardware accepts fluorescent bulbs for
recycling during business hours. Costs range from $.89 to $5.

Wednesday of May and September. You can recycle
fluorescents on those days.
