11th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today, Saint Paul says of himself, “…Christ lives in me…I
live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given
himself up for me.”
How has the Mass kept me mindful of Christ’s love unto
death for me and that he lives in me?
When the risen Jesus
approached the two disciples on their way of
Emmaus,
they did not recognize him. After he opened
God’s Word
for them and then took bread,
blessed it, and broke it,
Saint Luke says:
“Then their eyes were opened,
and they recognized him” (Luke 24:31).
Since that time, every Mass has been an act of
recognition.
At Mass, we recognize that we do not walk alone.
We recognize the presence of the Risen One
who even now is transforming our fragile and vulnerable
existence and drawing us into the fullness of life.
We recognize the presence of the Lord, as we make our
Eucharistic acclamation: “We proclaim your Death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection until you come again.”
We recognize his presence among us and his glory in the
Most Holy Trinity when acclaim the Great Amen, affirming
“Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty
Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is
yours, for ever and ever.
Amen.”

11. niedziela zwykła
Dzisiaj św. Paweł mówi o sobie: „(…) Teraz zaś już nie ja
żyję, lecz żyje we mnie Chrystus. (…) obecne życie moje jest
życiem wiary w Syna Bożego, który umiłował mnie i samego
siebie wydał za mnie.”
(Ga 2, 20-21) W jaki sposób Msza Święta przypominała mi
dotychczas o miłości Chrystusa, aż do Jego ofiarnej śmierci
za mnie oraz o tym, że „Chrystus żyje we mnie”?
Gdy Zmartwychwstały Jezus przystąpił
do dwóch apostołów w drodze do Emaus,
uczniowie nie rozpoznali w Nim swego Mistrza.
Nastąpiło to dopiero wówczas, gdy Jezus rozpoczął
tłumaczyć im Pisma, a później, gdy
„ (…) wziął chleb, odmówił błogosławieństwo,
połamał go i dawał im.” (Łk. 24, 30)
Jak pisze dalej Św. Łukasz:
„Wtedy oczy im się otworzyły i poznali Go
(…).” (Łk. 24, 31) Od tego momentu,
każda Msza Święta jest aktem rozpoznawania.
Msza Święta pozwala nam rozpoznawać, że w naszej
wędrówce nie jesteśmy sami. Rozpoznajemy obecność
Zmartwychwstałego Chrystusa,
który przemienia naszą kruchą i słabą egzystencję,
prowadząc nas do pełni życia.
Rozpoznajemy obecność Naszego Pana, każdorazowo
wypowiadając aklamację Eucharystyczną: „Głosimy śmierć,
Twoją Panie Jezu, wyznajemy Twoje zmartwychwstanie i
oczekujemy Twego przyjścia w chwale.”
Rozpoznajemy obecność Chrystusa pośród nas,
Jemu też przyznajemy chwałę w Trójcy Przenajświętszej,
gdy odpowiadamy potężnym Amen, po słowach kapłana:
„Przez Chrystusa, z Chrystusem i w Chrystusie, Tobie Boże,
Ojcze wszechmogący, w jedności Ducha Świętego,
wszelka cześć i chwała przez wszystkie wieki wieków.
Amen”

Parish Life
Dear Friends in Christ,
It is a great joy for me to share with you that June 16, 2013 marks my 25th anniversary as a priest. For two of these twenty-five
years, God has given me the privilege and joy to serve you here at St. Thecla parish. In gratitude to God and the Blessed Mother
for the gift of my vocation, I would like to invite you to the celebration of a Mass of Thanksgiving on June 22, 2013 at 5:00 PM
here in our Church. You are cordially invited to participate in a light reception in the Moriarty Hall immediately following the
Mass.
I invoke God’s blessing upon you and express my gratitude to you, who God has placed on the path of my life and vocation. I look
forward to joyfully celebrating with you, and I ask you to keep me in your prayers!
Most sincerely in Christ, Rev. Wojciech A. Marat
Drodzy Bracia i Siostry!

Hair Razor Haunted Scenes Fundraiser 2013
We are currently looking for new blood. We have openings for committee chairs in all of the committees. Some of these spots were filled with non-parishioners over the past 5 years. We need people to
step up and fill these spots or we will not be able to continue with this fundraiser. This fundraiser
brought in close to $30,000 for the last two years in a row and can continue to grow with your help.

Paver Brick…..time is running out
LAST CHANCE TO PURCHASE A BRICK FOR ST. THECLA’S NEW BRICK PAVER WALKWAY!
St. Thecla’s new brick paver walkway will be installed this summer! The last day to purchase a brick and participate in our
brick paver fundraiser is this Sunday, June 16th.
You’ll recall that as part of our parish Brick Paver Fundraiser, we are selling personalized, engraved bricks that will be installed
in the walkway in front of church. The bricks are a lasting testament to your school, family, event, memories, or loved one(s).
The funds are also an important source for our parish finances.
We are very thankful to all the families and individuals that have already purchased a brick(s). For those that have not yet purchased a brick, please take the time to support this important cause and make a permanent mark on this parish. Fundraising is a
key component to St. Thecla’s ability to not only survive, but thrive.
We offer our sincerest appreciation to the following families that have already purchased a brick and paved the way to
the bright future for St. Thecla Parish!
Please contact Kerri Caldwell (773) 425-9542 or Julie Schutt (773) 657-0540 before June 16th with any questions.
Thank you for your support, Father Gene Dyer, Dan Gargano & The Brick Paver Fundraising Committee

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of
the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of
the Heavenly Host—by the Divine Power of God—cast into hell, Satan
and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of
souls. Amen.
