6th Sunday of Easter
In the Mass, the priest prays that the Holy Spirit would
change bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ.
Jesus tells us that same transforming Spirit is given
to us.
For what change in my life do I hope and pray for at
Mass?
The organ begins to roll out the Alleluia Gosel Acclamation. On cue, everyone rises. We all get up,
and we look like we are exacting something. And we
should. The words, the teaching, the ministry of Jesus
are about to be proclaimed in the Gospel. That is momentous and worth rising for. The Word of life and hope
is coming to us. Each time we rise up, we also anticipate
the end of time which is the fulfillment of our hopes
and dreams. Jesus said, “Now when these things begin to
take place, stand up and raise your heads, because your
redemption is drawing near”
(Luke 21:28)
TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — Jesus tells the disciples that they will be witnesses to
the ends of the earth (Acts 1:1-11).
Psalm — God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets
for the Lord (Psalm 47).
Second Reading — God seated Jesus at his right hand in the heavens
(Ephesians 1:17-23) or Hebrews 9:24-28; 10:19-23.
Gospel — As Jesus blessed his disciples he parted from them and was
taken up to heaven (Luke 24:46-53).

Niedziela 6. Wielkanocna
Podczas Mszy Świętej kapłan modli się, aby Duch Święty
zstąpił na dary chleba i wina i przemienił je w Najświętsze
Ciało i Krew Jezusa Chrystusa. Nasz Zbawiciel mówi nam,
że tego samego - przemieniającego dary - Ducha Świętego
również i my sami otrzymujemy.
Czy oczekuję z nadzieją przemiany w moim życiu i o
jakiego rodzaju przemianę proszę w modlitwie podczas
Mszy Świętej?
Organy w kościele intonują Alleluja przed czytaniem
Ewangelii.
Słowa, nauka i misja Jezusa
Chrystusa wkrótce zostaną nam ogłoszone w Słowie
Bożym. Jest to rzeczywiście przełomowa chwila, która
warta jest podniesienia się z miejsc i przyjęcia postawy
stojącej. Słowo Życia i nadziei przychodzi do nas. Każdorazowo, kiedy się podnosimy i wstajemy przed czytaniem Ewangelii, uczestniczymy w czasie ostatecznym,
ędącym spełnieniem naszych nadziei i marzeń, o którym
Jezus powiedział: „A gdy się to dziać zacznie, nabierzcie
ducha i podnieście głowy, ponieważ zbliża się wasze
odkupienie.” (Łk. 21, 28)

Religious Education
Registration for the 2013-2014 year will be taking place in May. Registration forms are being sent to those families currently in
the program. We ask that they be returned in May so that we can plan for the coming year. If you have a child who has not previously been in religious education at Saint Thecla, please contact the parish office for information and registration forms. A
copy of the Baptismal certificate is required for all new students. We are also in need of people willing to serve as catechists and
aides for the coming year. We ask you to consider becoming involved in this very important ministry. Without volunteers this
program would not exist. Training and materials will be provided. Contact the Parish Office if you’re interested.

Thank you for supporting our Brick Paver Fundraiser!
You’ll recall that, as part of our parish Brick Paver Fundraiser, we are selling personalized, engraved bricks that will be installed in
the walkway in front of the church. The bricks are a lasting testament to your school, family, event, memories, or loved one(s).
The funds are also an important source for our parish finances.
For those that have not yet purchased a brick, please take the time to support this important cause and make a permanent mark on
this parish. Fundraising is a key component to St. Thecla’s ability to not only survive, but thrive.
We want to offer our sincerest appreciation to the following families for grabbing the torch from prior generations and
paving the way to the bright future for St. Thecla Parish!
Thank you for the great support,
Fr. Gene and the Brick Paver Fundraising Committee

How many Memorares will it take to end abortion in America? Fifty million? Fifty billion?
I don’t know, so let’s get started! Please join us in praying
Memorares for the end of abortion. This is a most powerful
prayer, and “this kind can only be cast out by prayer and fasting.” (Mt 17:20)
Let’s keep track of our prayers, so we will encourage each
other to pray more. You can pray the Memorare yourself, or
with friends, family, or with your class at school. We’ll even
pray on the air. And once you’ve accumulated 100
Memorares, please enter that number onto our “Memorare
Meter.”

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
That never was it known
That anyone who fled to thy protection,
Implored thy help, or sought thy intercession
Was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother,
To thee do I come, before thee I stand,
Sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate
Despise not my petitions
But hear and answer me. Amen
