SCNCA Race Skills Clinic at the Dana Point Grand Prix Tailored for introductory bike racers. No prior race experience needed! Ever considered trying bike racing for the first time? Want to be more comfortable riding in a large group? This clinic is the perfect way to enter the sport under professional and supportive supervisions. This version of the SCNCA Race Skills Clinic is for novice riders 11 and older seeking to learn. What is the SCNCA Race Skills Clinic? The SCNCA Race Skills program works with professional coaches in our region to help new racers get the essential skills they need to become comfortable competing in bike racing. The curriculum of the Dana Point Grand Prix Clinic will cover: Basic Pack Skills, Cornering and elements of Pack Awareness. The day will consist of a professionally coached on-the-bike clinic and the coaches will participate in the category 5 mens, and category 3/4 womens races and will facilitate post-race discussions. Who can attend? All non-licensed (first-time racers) and Cat. 5 /4 or Cat. 4/3 racers are welcome to attend this Racing Skills Clinic. All licensed riders will receive ONE participation upgrade point toward their Cat. 4 (male) or Cat. 3 (male or female) upgrade for attending the clinic. Juniors with race ages 11 and older are also encouraged to attend the skills clinic. If you are not a USA Cycling license holder you will need to purchase a one-day license for the event. Dates and Times: Saturday April 30th. Registration opens at 10:00 AM. Skills clinic - 11:00 AM - Noon. Mentored Race Sessions for Women 3/4 at 1:20 PM and Cat 5/public at 1:55 PM. Post Race discussion to immediately follow each mentored race. Entries: Pre event registration @USACycling.org and Race-Day registration, $15. Online Registration closes Thursday 4/28 at 11:59 PM. 1-Day USAC licenses $10. Directions: Easy to locate. From 1-5 freeway exit Beach Cities / Dana Point PCH HWY 1 North.
