At the Law Offices of Young Wooldridge, LLP we have
established a reputation of serving clients for over 75 years. Many
of you know of our remarkable history which is built around hard
work, dedication, and trust. Serving a full array of business and
personal legal needs including business transactions, business
formation, estate planning, living trusts and wills, tax law,
employment law, bankruptcy, and personal injury, the Law Offices
of Young Wooldridge stands ready to help our clients when
they are seeking the best in legal representation. Our attorneys
are highly skilled within their respective legal disciplines and
welcome the privilege of serving Tehachapi and its surrounding
communities.
We are excited to share aspects of the law and trends which
we see on a daily basis in hopes of keeping your family, and
businesses safe and protected. With that in mind, I would like to
provide to you some trends in the fast changing legal climate that
we see on a frequent basis. We are pleased to be of assistance and
we hope this information will be helpful to you. Of course, if we
can be of further assistance always feel free to contact our office
at 661-327-9661 or visit our websites at YoungWooldridge.com
or YWpersonalinjury.com. You may also contact our Investigator
Frank Wooldridge at 661-496-2810 for service 24/7.
Frequently we have clients come into our personal injury
department who, because of no fault of their own have been
involved in an auto accident where they or their passengers
have been injured. Many times these same clients are under the
mistaken impression that like themselves the person who was
driving the car that hit them also had an insurance policy with
sufficient liability coverage to cover medical expenses of the
persons they collided with. The reality is that, 25% of drivers
have only $15,000 in liability coverage, the state minimum, or are
uninsured. This is rarely enough to cover our client’s medical bills.
It is strongly suggested that you look at your own auto insurance
declaration page and speak with your insurance agent to discuss
if you have sufficient coverage for underinsured and uninsured
motorists. While you’re at it we also recommend adding what
is called medical payment or “med pay” to your policy. In the
event of a collision where you are injured, med pay is like cash.
So when bills come in from medical providers you will instantly
have financial resources to respond. It may take time to resolve a
personal injury lawsuit so the med pay comes in handy. This is a
valuable investment at a minimal cost.
As many of you may know, on July 13, 2015 California
Governor Brown signed emergency legislation amending certain
aspects of California’s Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families
Act of 2014, known as the California Paid Sick Leave Law. The
amendments include calculation of pay, method of accrual and
record keeping. For further detail visit, www.youngwooldridge.
